Quote of the Day: "Let the workers organize. Let the toilers assemble. Let their crystallized voice proclaim their injustices and demand their privileges. Let all thoughtful citizens sustain them, for the future of Labor is the future of America." -- John L. Lewis

Another Gulf Oil Rig has exploded, and a hurricane is coming in. I don't know if God has anything in particular against the Gulf Coast, but it seems to be further evidence that Corporate America is trying its best to kill it.

I think the homophobes rather like the fact that their BS is causing teen homosexuals to commit suicide. They're nothing but a bunch of authoritarian a-holes that prefer that people that don't align with their point of views just don't exist, if it means they kill themselves oh well. They probably love that little African country that has made homosexuality a capitol offense, so caring about someone killing themselves is just as good, even better because they don't have to take direct responsibility.
Sociopaths and megalomaniacs don't just exist in corporate board rooms these days, they also reside in Churches and in special Citizen groups.
Can't stand anyone who preaches they know what's the best values for me and my family. Mind your OWN DAMN BUSINESS!

Had to read Ishmael for my Enviromental Geography class. So there is at least one Professor out there exposing a lot of people to that book, every semester.

and even if people choose to be gay, what's the issue??
This is so messed up. How can they claim to be christian and claim that they are following Jesus' message? Didn't Jesus teach that thou shall not judge? I got pregnant right before my senior year of high school. All the good Christian kids at my "normal' school were horrible to me, so much so that I switched to the alternative school down the road. The alternative school was full of Muslims, gays, knocked up girls, and other "outcasts". The teachers were amazing, the students were wonderful. Mutual respect was the key. Everyone was treated as a person, with respect for the decisions that we were making. Do these people think that if they ignore the bullying, that the "gay" will be beaten out of them? If only everyone would follow the simple rules of life, we would all be happier. Treat others as you would want to be treated, simple and sweet.
My Spock thoughts regarding the televised Boxer-Fiorina debate last night:
Any fourth grader in California should know that rights are not given to humans but are reserved by people and preserved by government AND that corporations are legal entities written in and consisting of laws and granted existence by the boon of the people through their government. Carly Fiorina repeatedly showed last night that she lacks that basic understanding of how things work in America. Unfortunately, Barbara Boxer should have pointed out that her opponent does not understand the operations of the office she is attempting to purchase with the blood money she got from HP for failing to do the right and just things required by people in her charge.
People don't choose to be gay, they're simply born with their sexual identity. To deny ones true self is to lead a very difficult life, especially if you're a Republican or perhaps the child of some retrograde fundilogical loon. Religion is so damn disgusting. The family values of Jesus were not too great. He encouraged his disciples to leave their families and follow him. He hung around with 12 men and a hooker.. I doubt he existed, but if he did, I wonder what his sexual preferences were.
He hung around with 12 men and a hooker..
Few characters in the New Testament have been so sorely miscast as Mary Magdalene, whose reputation as a fallen woman originated not in the Bible but in a sixth-century sermon by Pope Gregory the Great. Not only is she misidentified as the repentant fallen prostitute of legend, meditating and levitating in a cave, but she was not necessarily even a notable sinner: Being possessed by "seven demons" that were exorcised by Jesus, she was arguably more victim than sinner. And the idea, popularized by The Da Vinci Code, that Mary was Jesus' wife and bore his child, while not totally disprovable, is the longest of long shots.

Democrats May Keep Bush Tax Cuts for Rich
McClatchy identifies several Democratic senators who want the tax cuts extended for all Americans, including Evan Bayh of Indiana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska ...
It is a falsehood (lie) to say that tax cuts for billionaires stimulates the economy and creates jobs. It it were true, then this very minute the economy would be booming and unemployment nil.
Obama makes a lot of us feel like weenies.. :..(
Oh well, guess we'll get roasted in Nov.... one way or another.

Mark my words:
The Media's Narrative & Polling will be grossly proven wrong.
What we've learned and know, is that we need a bigger majority.
And we're gonna have it.
And the republicans are as toasted as the Blue Dogs are, and they dont even know it!
The guest mentioned "people of faith" as a group who agreed with her. I would ask what faith? Certainly not mine. The Episcopal church has ordained openly gay bishops. This has caused controversy and loss of members but it is the right decision and one the main body of communicants stands behind. Other main line churches support gay marriage to varying degrees. This person's view is radical and non-Christian. I really doubt the legitimacy of many of these groups who call themselves Christian no matter how large and noisy they are. Just because heresy is a word not often used anymore does not mean that it does not exist. "Not everyone who cries Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven."
As a substitute teacher I often worked in our alternative high school. Many of the other "subs" were afraid to go there. What I found was a small group of outcasts who supported and cared for each other. Yes, they had problems, but who doesn't. Actually there were fewer discipline problems ther than in the "normal" high school.
