Big Picture Rumble - Why Mitt Really Quit

Shelby Emmett, Attorney / Project 21 & George Landrith, Frontiers of Freedom & Neil Sroka, Democracy for America all join Thom Hartmann. Mitt has called it quits. Earlier today - two-time Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney held a conference call - and told his supporters that he will not make a third run at the presidency. Romney reportedly said that it’s, “best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity” to become the Republican presidential nominee. This announcement comes just a few weeks after Romney first floated the idea of running again - which threw a wrench in the 2016 Republican nominee field. In the past few weeks - Romney had reportedly been working hard to gain support from his 2012 base - particularly from his donors - but apparently those efforts didn’t go so well. More importantly - Romney didn't have the hard-right billionaires who bankroll elections behind him. In today’s Republican Party - you have to have the likes of the Koch Brothers and Shelly Adelson behind you 100% if you want to have any chance of winning - and Romney just didn't have that support.
