BIG Oil Chooses Profits Over Worker's Safety

Cole Stangler, International Business Times, joins Thom Hartmann. While pipelines are leaking and oil trains are exploding - oil and gas workers in North Dakota are putting their lives on the line each and every day. Oil and gas extraction is one the most dangerous and deadly industries in the United States - and in North Dakota - where oil and gas are suddenly king. In fact - the oil and gas industry death rate in North Dakota is a staggering six times the national average - and more workers are getting hurt - or worse - each day. When they get hurt - they get workers compensation insurance which is funded through the state. The Good - The Bad - and the Very Very Puniceously Ugly

The Very Very Ugly! Dinesh D’Souza! Not to be outdone by Rudy Giuliani in the offensive attacks against the president department - Dinesh sent out a tweet Wednesday that set a new low in dumb racist humor. The tweet showed a screenshot of president Obama using a selfie stick along with the caption - “YOU CAN TAKE THE BOY OUT OF THE GHETTO… Watch this vulgar man show his stuff, while America cowers in embarrassment”

Dinesh later tried to draw back that tweet by saying he was just using the term “ghetto” metaphorically - but let’s be clear - there’s no acceptable way to use coded racial slurs - check this out.

Log Cabin Republicans - CPAC is Homophobic

Next week marks the start of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference - or CPAC. A chance for right-wingers of all stripes to get together - plot out strategy - and reconnect with the party faithful - CPAC is usually a good indicator of which way the conservative movement is headed. Which makes it all the more interesting that one of the most forward-thinking conservative groups around won't be attending this year's conference. Founded in 1977 as a safe space for gay and lesbian conservatives - the Log Cabin Republicans would fit right in at CPAC. It supports - among other things - repealing Obamacare - fracking for oil - and preserving the sequester. Sounds pretty conservative - right? Not according to the American Conservative Union - the group that runs CPAC. It has refused to allow the Log Cabin Republicans to participate in next week's festivities. Joining Thom for more on this is Gregory T. Angelo - National Executive Director of the Log Cabin Republicans
