Scientists vs Feminists - The Fight Over Female Viagra

Martha Kempner, RH Reality Check, joins Thom Hartmann. Viagra - it's not just for men anymore. Last Tuesday - a company called Sprout Pharmaceuticals asked the Food and Drug admininstration to approve a drug it says will help the almost 40 percent of American women - according to some studies - who suffer from a low sex drive. This is the third time Sprout has put the drug - which is called flibanserin - before the FDA. And just as has been the case the other two times Sprout has asked the FDA to approved its so-called "little pink pill" - a controversy is brewing. Siding with Sprout - many women's groups have called for a quick approval of the drug for sale - suggesting that if this was something that helped men sexually, it would have been on the market years ago.
