As the war in Iraq continues, it's important to look at the first time a President's problems with UN inspections for weapons of mass destruction led to a tragic result. The President was John F. Kennedy, but his story has taken decades to emerge, due to years of government secrecy. The follow excerpt is Chapter 1 of Ultimate Sacrifice: John and Robert Kennedy, the Plan for a Coup in Cuba, and the murder of JFK, by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann. Based on thousands of documents declassified in recent years, and interviews with JFK associates such as his Secretary of State Dean Rusk, the book shows that Castro's refusal to allow the UN inspections led JFK to begin a "Plan for a Coup in Cuba" that included a possible invasion by US military forces. The decades of secrecy surrounding JFK's coup plan proves Santayana's adage that "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Lamar Waldron.

Double murder of our highest

Double murder of our highest officials in a five year span is terrible evil beyond fluke. We should consider who in the long run stood to profit most from the Kennedy deaths? Then we should acknowledge the same people are capable of delivering more of the same, and ask if we have gotten and are getting more of it now.

The hope of the American middle class surely died in 1968. Since then nothing has damaged progress as much as the price fixing, loan sharking, and money laundering sanctioned by government insiders and their legion of lawyers. We were supposed to have gotten past the Old World. Yet working people and the Treasury have been effortlessly looted from within, in the steady stream of bankruptcies, massive frauds and bank failures which began in 1970 with the Penn Central.

Enter Nixon, Rumsfeld, Cheney, guys who believe in getting their due which is none of the public's business.

Maybe enough time just hasn't passed for us to see what the real plan was and is. I feel it is something which may never have gotten past such powerful advocates of the people as we had in the Kennedy brothers, or at least it may not have come off so smoothly.

I agree with a lot of your

I agree with a lot of your comment, but I'd go further back.  The systematic seduction of our national leadership by criminals has been going for some time.  If you'd like to see bald corruption, have a look at LBJ and his Political cronies in Texas.  That carried over into the national arena when LBJ went to D.C.  The scandals tied to him are mind boggling.
