Republicans who supported the New Deal

I can't remember if it was Thom or Carl, but one of them claimed that they knew someone who collected all the Republican speeches in congress during the 1930s who were opposed to going into WWII because they said it would hurt the New Deal. I would love to research this more. Does anyone have a source for this?
