Don’t get me wrong. Rainforests are crucial to the Planet’s survival is several ways. For starters, they bind a critical amount of carbon, as well as produce oxygen.
But approximately 80% of the earth’s oxygen comes from ocean born algae. And as the oceans continue to warm this salient little fact is being challenged.
What the planet is witnessing is an increased production of Hydrogen Sulfide by our failing oceans. In fact, there is a projection that without Campaign Finance Reform (and a whole bunch of miracles) the planet is on a long-term trajectory of loosing its atmosphere based on Oxygen for one based instead on Hydrogen Sulfide.
Have a nice day and please fight today’s Holocene Mass Extinction.

Half of me really wants to chastise Larry Summer’s for convincing Bill Clinton not to sign the Kyoto Protocols. The Protocols, had we followed them in good faith and intent, would have invariably helped keep climate change from hitting the human race unnecessarily hard at some point in the future. But instead Summers’s opinion really just exhibited the arrogance, ego, selfishness, as well as a host of other personality and character defects that seem to dominate our elected governance as a whole. So, in the end, environmentally speaking, I guess Summers gave us what we got coming. Sad.
