Do you trust yourself and neighbors to control the Federal Reserve? Remember, big government is suppose to represent the people, but we know the economic kings control the government. Is that what you mean when you say you don`t trust big government?
And liberal/progressive. These are goofy questions as holders of either ideology would accept that control of one's money is actually dependent on the individual and who actually controls the banks.
There is a currency system known as LETS which has had some success. In it, you create and spend as much as you want (your LETS account is public information though, so those that abuse it will be exposed immediately). It works way better than one might think. The big issue is that, as one might expect, inflation is a big problem since there is no rule about actually having a product or service to back up the currency you've created.
I've thought of a system that expands LETS a bit. In it, you can only create a months worth of currency (equal to a month of your labor, at the market value for it) and/or create currency backed up by a product for sale. Also in it, when you create said currency you must commit to providing the labor and/or product you backed up your created currency with.
In such a system, currency is in its proper place, used as tool for trade rather than a piece of value to horde.
I watch Ms.Meredith Whitney(Wall St) on Q &A (C-Span,9/5/10) She said, "the worst thing Wall St does is using the ponzi of having people think they`re to stupid to know about investment".Remember England thought we were to stupid to vote? It`s time to replace Wall St like we did England! It`s time to invest in a grassroots-own bank and invest for ourselfs.

If one says yes, then they are a conservative.
I would trust myself and my neighbors much more than big government on how to control our money.

I would agree liberal/progressive/conservative ideology can all be in one person and control of the money depends on who control the bank.
You can trust the Republicans to give all your money Wall Street with no strings attached.
I wouldn`t trust the Republicans with "Counterfeit Monopoly Money".

Your idea sound like a winner,it`s base on reality.
