Is FOX TV a National Security Threat? By Spreading Hate & Lies.

One day the mice all got together and were muttering about the cat.

One mouse, braver than the rest, stepped forward and put it plainly:

"This Cat has killed and eaten dozens of our friends.   It moves so quietly that it's impossible to hear it coming before it's too late."

"I propose that we put a bell on the Cat, so from now on we will hear the bell tinkling and know to run away to safety.   Thus the Cat will no longer be able to catch, torture, and eat us."

Another mouse, a bit older, nodded in agreement.  

"Young Mouse, what you say is true.  Be sure to come back after you bell the Cat and tell us how it went".

What you say is true,Tayl44.   I couldn't agree more.

The problem is America has Free Speech.   Even liars and demagogues get to stand on their soap box and lie to anyone who will listen.

Rupert Murdoch is a billionaire.   He can afford to fund Faux News at a loss if he wishes, as a political tool.

Of course he won't be around forever.   Nor will Glenn Beck or Rush.

We may just have to wait it out.   Their racism is dying; it has no place in the modern world.

Sadly, Air America was the best response so far.  They're gone now.

Leaving Thom Hartmann and Jon Stewart to TRY to educate people.   But some people never learned to think, and can't learn.

If a TV network was broadcasting islamic nationalism on television in the US, would people be asking for them to lose their license?

Foxnews is worse, because they've been promoting since the first day that president Obama was sworn in the idea that president Obama is a dictator (not our legitimate president).

I vote for passing a law that would list "the 7 most offensive things that you can call the president of the US" (Sounds familiar?) If anybody on TV or radio refers to the president as: muslim, hitler, nazi, communist, socialist, fascist or homosexual. That person should be arrested and sent to court.

All I can do is concider the source. Fox news is not for the people or by the people. It is a corporate network.  It has its motives and agendas just like any other corporate funded and influenced entity.

 I am reminded of the Gump phrase, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Well said bonnie.  Its just a shame when that "stupid" dictates who governs your nation. 

Rupert Murdock is worse than Limbaugh, Beck, and all the rest.  As the man with the power he continues to flood America with faux lies and propaganda hoping for Republican political victory. By allowing the filth of these ideologues to be broadcast on his networks, in many cases without an alternative viewpoint, he is the man to blame.  Rupert Murdock loves himself, and hates America.

Fix the rule changes that allowed it to become the anti-democratic institution it is now - including the licensing requirements on equal (political) coverage and public-service time.

We had a good working system and let them change it.

Fox News serves a valuable service.  I Listen to both sides.  I admit Rush and several other right wingers are nut jobs.

Thom informs us of all the low life tactics of the investor class that will do anything to make a buck at the people's expense.  On the other hand Thom seems to think that USA policy towards Islam should influenced by a terroist who insinuates that our policy towards the ground zero mosque will increase terroist recruitment.  I disagree.  You could bomb the Muslim countries with money and they would still hate us.  Muslims can't get along with Budhists in China or with the Hindus in India or with the Jews in Israel or the Russians in Cheznya or the Christrians in the USA.

Fox News has informed the public about the racism of Acorn, Van Jones, Jerimiah Wright, La Raza and the Black Panthers.  Fox News supports the Minute Men and the Arizona Immigration law.  This is why I apprecaite both Fox News and Left wingers like Thom.

Gaining insight from faux news is possible.  It's like trying to learn truth from a sociopathic, compulsive liar.  It's there, but you have to dig deep.

Oh, you mean "Equal Time".  

That might work, but I suspect they'd just make a mockery of it.   Isn't that what Combs was for?

Funny you say this -- I think this is exactly why the fringe groups in Muslim countries hate us. These fringe groups promote imagery of over-indulgent gluttonous and wasteful Americans who want to tempt and tease the rest of the world into giving in to over-indulgent wasteful ways.

But, fringe groups are just that - fringe groups. It's easier to compartmentalize and categorize different sections/groups into an easily comprehendable whole. It's like, "some are all and all are some."

Wait, I think I should change some to sum.

Anway, I think this simplified, (and very flawed), line of thinking is where Fox News fails. And it is also why I sort of see Fox News in the same light as the fringe groups they "report" on.

I think one of the best things we can do is help recommend and promote Free Speech TV. Now with DirecTV carrying it, countless more people have access to it. But whether or not they know about it is another matter. We need to make sure everyone we know knows of it.
