Probably the best way they've done if for millions...is to collapse the economy....that's still in the process of collapse.
Economic collapses tend to hold people back....and a few make out like bandits.

I can think of a lot of impoverished societies were everyone is equally miserable, but not any developed nations where it has worked. The former Soviet Union was the biggest Marxist experiment to date, and I'm not sure that worked out real well did it.

poly relies. The examples are abundant. Le't stick with one: Ricardo, a Father of Economic noted that if a nation allows shipping its labor costs abroad (outsourcing) it will impoverish itself and its people. A few make out like bandits.. That's one under-pinning of our collapse.

poly replies: That's limited to really small social groupings pretty close to a family level. However, egalitarian socities have flourished in the past..
Equal outcomes and egalitarian outcomes are two very different things. The plutocratic outcome we have now is similar to neither. It more resembles monarchy outcomes of 300-400 years ago.
To the topic: The last time the "rich were pressured" for change was when FDR was elected. He was informed that he had about a year before an armed rebellion would occur...and the army didn't have the strength to put down. Change happened pretty fast. when the wealthy envisioned themselves being hung from lamp posts..

Peewee,I should have said,"on a more equal base".(equal being relative) The failure of capitalism & communism is because they cannot live with democracy. Civilization have come a long way,lets hope it don`t stop with these two failures.Laborism or Democratism will be next "ism",a new form of economic democracy.The workers become the "boss/ruling class".Hopefully life will be better,and more equal.Poly,the ruling class don`t need an army to protect them,they have WMD.Remember "MAD",we don`t need to go that way,we the people give money value and we can take it away.That`s our WMD,controlling our money!
