New York, September 23, 2010. The internationally syndicated Thom Hartmann Program is moving its base of operations to Washington, DC,  from Portland, OR.  Starting in October, Hartmann will be broadcasting his show from the nation's capital, building out a brand new radio and TV studio in a space contiguous with Talk Radio News Service.

"This is a great opportunity for us, broadcasting from the belly of the beast," said Hartmann. "For a political talk show it doesn't get any better, and we're also very excited to have access to the extraordinary news resources of TRNS, which have been a part of our  show for nearly eight years."

About The Thom Hartmann Program

The Thom Hartmann Program, now in its eighth year, is syndicated by  the Dial-Global, Pacifica, and Free Speech TV networks. It's carried  on more than 130 terrestrial radio stations and cable TV systems, as well as American Forces Radio, both Sirius and XM, and simulcast as live television on both DirectTV and Dish Network.

Wow, congratulations to you

Wow, congratulations to you both Thom and Louise.  DC needs some saner voices.

That is quite the move.  Does this mean you will have an even larger audience?  Will you be heard on more stations?

Wow that is big news, I guess it makes sense. Hope you like living in DC.

Can you walk down K street and kick the lobbyists every morning for us? Are we going to see Thom on TV more often. Something in the works?

Congrats on the move to DC,

Congrats on the move to DC, Thom.  By sheer coincidence, I too am moving to the DC area  next week, after 35 years in Los Angeles.  It feels like a DC progressive insurgency in the making!

For all the deserved success,

For all the deserved success, the price of leaving Portland for the Great Swamp and really crappy weather is very high indeed.  Being where the deals are being done is part of the news plus, but being in the Bubble can cause brain damage.  So keep your sense of humor.  The pathologist approach makes sense of what is crazy.  Trying to make sense of this will drive you crazy.  Thanks.

I certainly don't envy Thom

I certainly don't envy Thom moving to the east coast.  I'd love to see his horoscope though as the 9th house probably indicates a lot of travel and moving to "foreign countries."   Yea, DC is a "foreign country."  Let's see Big Eddy moved to DC because of a "TV show".  Could it be? (I mean something more than a satellite channel).

It is my dream to work for

It is my dream to work for The Thom Hartmann Show. Are you hiring? I am college educated, unemployed, and live in DC. I would like to become active in the Progressive movement on a full-time-professional basis, not just as a hobby. Please tell me what I need to do to join the THS team.

Welcome to the

Welcome to the land-of-fantasy "Inside the Beltway." I grew-up in the Maryland Suburbs; but live in "the other Washington" (250-miles north of PDX).

So the question for DC is: Will you be broadcasting in the DC radio-sphere? Other than NPR, I've found very little "Progressive" or Alternative Radio here - or traveling cross-country. Sad but true.

Sure would be nice to hear your voice live.

Wow Thom, I seemed to be

Wow Thom,

I seemed to be following in your footsteps of where you lived in the past, having moved to Lansing area in the early 70's, and recently to Portland.  Now you seem to be following in my footsteps, myself having lived in the DC area as a kid in the mid 60's during the time of the JFK assasination, etc. then.  Quite a bit's changed since then, but probably a lot hasn't too.  Will miss having you visit Powell's and the Bagdad here in Portland, but will keep up with you on FSTV...
