These expanding energy projects are exempted from most federal oversight (Thank You Dick Cheny) and pose a serious risk to water supplies, air quality, forests, not to mention they contribute more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The states seem unwilling and unable to adequately regulate and monitor these drilling practices(Toxic water). I guess being in the worst recession of our lifetime doesn't help. I am starting to believe I reside in a third world country. Also, so much for the impression that the Canadian government is green, the Canadian Tar Sands project in Alberta might be the dirtiest most damaging mega-oil project on the planet.
I think I am going back to burying my head in the sand.
