Tao Bible - Genesis 3:12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
~ King James version ~

Don't blame others when you follow the unbounded desire of your own ego.
~ possible Taoist alternative ~ Since the beginnings of time, we humans have liked to try to pass blame onto others. When we become angry, we say that someone else made us this way. If we read the KJV literally, this idea is enshrined in the very first book! And it goes a long way toward understanding WHY women have been treated like chattel ever since -- The problems of humankind were brought on us by a woman!

Taoism looks at this phenomena in a totally different way. Rather than blaming others, each of us chooses how we will behave, act and think in response to life's situations and circumstances. If we become enraged or jealous, no one else is responsible for our reaction, the onus falls squarely on us.

The impetus for our emotional reactions to the situations in life is our attachment to our beliefs and perceptions. It is when we let these attachments go that we simply take life as it comes.

This type of perspective is

This type of perspective is emblematic of American bourgeoisie cultural imperialism which serves the morally bankrupt status quo. Taoism cannot be translated into rehashed self-help qoutations of Dale Carnegie. Taoism as a transcendental philosophy incorporates the notion of causality into a schema of rythms endemic to the universe and nature of which the individual is a part. Therefore its relevance to us today means forming a holistic perspective which identifies the elements which interact with other elements to bring about certain results; in other words placing the blame >>>WHERE IT BELONGS.<<<<
