C-SPAN just finished showing a news conference on the day the news came out about her illegal employer deal.

Gloria Alred came out with the evidence because Whitman denied it at first.

And Ms. Whitman said she thought the government should go after employers who hire those here illegally. Ha ha!

Randi Rhodes remarked yesterday that Meg Whitman is so extremely wealthy that she could have hired Tony Danza to take care of her kids and Martha Stewart to take care of the house. But she instead chose to underpay someone undocumented BECAUSE SHE COULD. Really, was it worth it?

I guess when you spend $121 million on your political campaign, you can't possibly even dream of spending $10/hr on a maid.

Actually it was $23 an hour. I guess Randi conveniently left that part out.

Terrific! A real socialist wage. Gotitdone, do you think she could have hired a legal citizen and ought to have followed up on the letter about her status? What was the advantage, and why when the maid asked to get help getting legal was she dropped like a hot potato?

She had no benefits and was SOL when fired. If there was really no moral or ethical issue involved, why not help her? Did no human feelings or caring develop in the time of employment from Meg to her servant? Apparently not.

The hypocrisy of the rich comes with the arrogance of entitlement. The "little people" are to be used. Money is the measure of the soul.

The wage suggests that she did in fact beleive the maid was legal, I would guess most people who knowingly hire illegals do so because of the lower wages.

Oh gag. Please please please no no no...it's been bad enough here in California with our current sorry excuse for a governor. Whitman will be even worse torture for us.

I watched the debate with Jerry Brown. He came off—to me—as a bit of a likable goofy-grape, but she, oh god, she had the most self-satisfied, condescending look on her face the entire time, I began to wish somebody would walk up and shove a pie in her face. I CANNOT STAND THE WOMAN.

She apologized for never having registered to vote, for never having voted, as if an apology for that would somehow erase the fact of her irresponsible civic attitude. But I do understand why a billionaire would not bother to vote—they've got the money to buy elections. Why do that little democratic act, when you've got a more powerful kind of franchisement?
