Thom's article Good German Schools Come to America*, and others I have read, mention the use of force in implementing compulsory school in the United States. I am in search of sources to support this! If anyone can suggest newspaper articles, books, pamphlets, or any other reputable, citable sources from that period it would be greatly appreciated.
(They do not have to be specific to Massachusetts)
