Fukushima

Would someone let Tom know that the proper pronounciation the area is actually Fu-ku-shi-ma. He is pronouncing it incorrectly. There is no kush sound in Japanese, the language consists of a certain number of consonant vowel combinations which all end with the vowel, except for an occasional n at the end. There are no alternative pronounciations unlike English, and all syllables are given the same emphasis. I enjoy the show and it's nit-picky maybe but it's driving me crazy when Tom keeps says Fu-kush-i-ma is the correct pronounciation. It is not. Fuku ironically and sadly means good fortune and shima means island.

The world we're leaving for today's teens...

Without immediate global action on climate change, today's teenagers will be forced to live with the consequences of our inaction. The World Bank has issued their third report of climate change, and it says that global temperatures could rise by as much as 4 degrees Celsius by the time today's teens hit their 80th birthday.
