Jesus' way is a third way, not the warrior cult or indifference but nonviolent resistance (Walter Wink, The Powers That Be). Jesus is the auto-basileia and auto-aletheia of God, the fulfillment of the land promise to Israel. From a liberation theology perspective, Jesus' sacrifice is the end to human sacrifice.

Faith is a leap across 70,000 fathoms of water (Soren Kierkegaard). Faith is personal not private and more interruption than custom. The language of proclamation runs crossways to the language of time (Dietrich Bonhoeffer).

Jesus did not stop at words but drove out the moneychangers and traders and overturned their tables.  Jesus' act was a prophetic symbolic act.
