University of California

I went to Univ of California-Berkeley in the early '50s, tuition was not quite free....it cost $15/semester.....student body card was an additional $10 but purchase not required. As far as I remember, a student body card let you into university sport events free. A year or two later, tuition cost $25/semester which included the student body card....the extra $10 hike to be applied to construction of a new student union. I later saw that new student union....it was beautiful....had a bowling alley and all the amenities a student could wish for. Cost was in the neighborhood of $25M.

The GOP war on workers has killed again...

It’s time to stop the conservative's war on working people in America.

Since the birth of our nation, conservatives have always been wary of average working-class Americans having too much political or economic power. John Adams, the second President of the United States and a Federalist (precursor to today’s Republicans), was very wary of the working class, which he referred to as “the rabble.”
