To this point W. Bush and Richard Cheney have received no public censure for starting the Iraq War under false pretenses.  People went to war suffered and died for reasons that turned out to be completely false.   We cannot let such reckless actions stand without a public rebuke of them or else actions such as these are more likely to become acceptable.  There is a new vehicle on the web, the Declaration of Shame,  http://www.declarationofshame.org   which allows people to sign the Declaration and personally express this censure.

The purpose of the Declaration is to build a large public expression of rebuke which can be cited and speak for itself as finally showing a public censure of what Bush and Cheney did.  It is the least we can do.

Why now?  Future leaders need to know that they can be scorned and disgraced not many years later but while they  are still alive.   With the war freshly over and the principals still living  this is the time to collect and publicize the rebuke before it is too late.

Stronger actions, such as efforts for war crimes,  have not succeeded.   Just because large segments of the public are not willing to have a former president and vice-president go to jail this should not stop us from the simpler and necessary basic action of  voicing mass censure.  A censure such as the Declaration of Shame stands a much better chance of  obtaining endorsements large enough to make a case of public rebuke.

I hope every person who was and is furious about having been  misled into this tragic war will do something positive and constructive with that feeling and sign the Declaration.   A massive build up of the number of endorsers will frame the war and the actions of Bush and Cheney for posterity.  We have a responsibility not only to future generations but to all those who suffered in the war do endorse this Declaration.  Please sign and pass it on.

It requires only your initials, town and state to add a voice to a much needed censure.

Bush/Cheney didn't start the War.   Congress did with the AUMF 2002.   I doubt you will get Congress to censure themselves.

The link works better this

The link works better this way.

Yes, we should all be ashamed, but some of you still aren't, and will vote for the same kind of fool.

My Grandfather, Stuart Hedden, was among the fascists who brought you the Bush Family. As Inspector General of CIA in 1951, among other things that will never be de-classified, he and Thomas Corcoran planned the coup in Guatemala. His and Tommy the Cork's visions of a fascist state in America were brought to fruition by their young apprentices, the Bush family.

Bush will be the most hated President we've ever had, once the truth about 9/11 is told.

We brought down those towers, they were wired with explosives, and though they would have withstood the planes and the fire, we turned everyone there into dust and ashes.

Sign the declaration, better yet, make sure the Republicans never get power again.

Only initials accepted?  I'm

Only initials accepted?  I'm not ashamed of being against murder, heinous manipulation, or embezzlement.

If they start right now and average one name per second that were harmed by their actions - they could outlive Methuselah and still not be done.

I'd rather the declaration be delivered to them face-to-face from the outside of their cell room bars.

To shame means to cast disgrace upon.  There is no greater error that leaders can commit than wrongly bringing their nation to war.  The untold suffering which resulted from this action and Bush and Cheney’s refusal to acknowledge their roles require rebuke. The Declaration expresses this rebuke.

Names are too easy to fake in malicious ways and can lead to discrediting the whole effort.  Someone could sign as Richard Cheney.   Initials, geographic location, time and date of signing are actually a pretty good way of doing things.  Those against the Declaration only add to the count if they put in false initials and are not likely to do that.   Non-existent towns can easily be identified and removed.
