I watched this film on Link TV the other morning called "Nuclear Tipping Point" and I wanted to share it with others. The film is available to watch online and the DVD can be ordered free of charge (With no charge for shipping either!). I will post the links to the film below, however I feel obligated to make one little disclaimer about the film first.

Keep an open mind when going into this film, if you simply judge it's cast or group affiliation you may miss the point!

I say this because earlier this morning I posted a link to the film in the Thom Hartmann chatroom and immediately it was dismissed as "fear mongering" and "pro war" by several chatters. As for myself, I do not share the same sentiment as those people. Although the film is connected in part with The Hoover Institute which is a right wing group , I did not get a sense of the film being simply a rally cry to arms. Nor did I feel the film was spreading fear for the sake of justifying a pre emptive strike against terrorists or Iran. What I did take away from the film was the following  message.

Until there are zero nuclear weapons in the world the nuclear threat remains high. Whether by terrorism, accidental launches, or act of war; the probability of disaster increases exponentially with each and every single nuclear weapon on the planet. Therefore there is only way to stack the odds in favor of mankind's survival, the complete nuclear disarmament of all nations and the practice of non proliferation through diplomacy.

I really do feel that sometimes the hatred of all things conservative can make some in this community not be able to see the forest for the trees. Had the film called out for pre emptive strikes at every turn I would have dismissed it as a hawk's propaganda immeditately. However the film didn't, and instead preached the important effect of creating a world with no nukes has our chances of survival. Take from it what you will, and you will likely get nothing out of this film if you go in biased based on its affiliations. I urge everyone to at least give this film a chance though, I firmly believe it has merit.

Best Regards,

Brett

Good luck trying to find

Good luck trying to find someone with an open mind who doesn't let idiots use it as a garbage can! But, thanks for offereing this post about movie. I am willing to look at all info, views, rants, and jokes. I'm a lifelong anti-nuke peacenik, but I am no idealist nor utopian. I despite nuclear weapons (and FISSION power*). All nuclear weapons have to go -- I teven hink creating or using certain Weapons of Mass Destruction should be the ONLY crime to require the death penalty. At the same time, I can understand why anyone, faced with rampant national saber-rattling and apocalytpic threats would want their own nukes. As George Carlin once suggested: "Be the first on your block!" Two guys I don't like actually said stuff I agree with: Achmadinejad says all nukes must go; Reagan said no nukes is good, but fewer is better than more!  And, of course, today's breed of crazed James Bond international villians, loyal to no specific state, complicate this problem. (*PS: As far as enegy sources are concerned, I have been promoting FUSION my whole life.)
