During a trip to the Middle East in March 1996, Vice President Dick Cheney told a group of mostly U.S. businessmen that Congress should ease sanctions in Iran and Libya to foster better relationships, a statement that, in hindsight, is completely hypocritical considering the Bush administration’s foreign policy.
“Let me make a generalized statement about a trend I see in the U.S. Congress that I find disturbing, that applies not only with respect to the Iranian situation but a number of others as well,” Cheney said. “I think we Americans sometimes make mistakes . . . There seems to be an assumption that somehow we know what’s best for everybody else and that we are going to use our economic clout to get everybody else to live the way we would like.”
Cheney was the chief executive of Halliburton Corporation at the time he uttered those words. It was Cheney who directed Halliburton toward aggressive business dealings with Iran—in violation of U.S. law—in the mid-1990s, which continued through 2005 and is the reason Iran has the capability to enrich weapons-grade uranium.
It was Halliburton’s secret sale of centrifuges to Iran that helped get the uranium enrichment program off the ground, according to a three-year investigation that includes interviews conducted with more than a dozen current and former Halliburton employees.
If the U.S. ends up engaged in a war with Iran in the future, Cheney and Halliburton will bear the brunt of the blame.
But this shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who has been following Halliburton’s business activities over the past decade. The company has a long, documented history of violating U.S. sanctions and conducting business with so-called rogue nations.

Get it? It isn’t about camping laws. It is about a Mafia State run by the banks and nothing else. Standing is a plaza isn’t going to change anything. The same linage of corruption is going to continually reappear in the American political system for decades to come to steer the nation into unending foreign wars and domination in the states. The politicians can be Republican, or Democratic but the underlying corrupt fascist structure will continue to enslave the American people until that structure is dismantled.

What do you think is the best way to dismantle the structure you're talking about other than walking up to the players and putting one right between their eyes? Voting doesn't seem to work anymore and the current USSC court doesn't seem to care about the everyday working people either. Maybe the common working folks need to band together and form their own version of a shadow government and slowly rid this country and the world of those who are screwing them by what ever means it takes? If this ever did happen one thing is for sure there would be a lot more of us than them.
Obama has frozen the assets of Iran, an act of war. Imagine if China did the same to the United States. So the Nobel Peace Prize winner is following the old tried and true scenario of agitation propaganda: the plan is much smarter than you are. This is a highly sophisticated propaganda campaign that has been in the works of more than a decade. The US military base in Iraq disguised as a "Embassy" along with hundreds of other launching pads in the Middle East are in place. So be prepared for more loss of freedom, unrest, and economic hardship by this manipulated planned march to war.

Fair enought........so what is your idea of how to dismantle the fascist structure you mentioned above? I don't see anything changing in the future unless we throw the bums out like we did in 1776.

We are in the same position as the Syrians. They won, we lost when the Republicans stole the 2001 election. I cannot think of any way out so it is best to prepare for the worst.
Prepare for the worst, but work for the best. I still want my Pledge of Allegiance tent revival meeting where we all bring our different stories to that frame about a republic and liberty and justice for all. At the heart of our national mythology of being that city set on a hill or even "Christian America" as seen in the Social Gospel example of a secular just society as the realization of the Gospel message, is a universal vision of humanity. Can it be redeemed from the narcissism and exceptionalist hubris that saw bringing the American Way of Life to the world?
I believe that the course of empire has given us a severe illness and not what pioneers and missionaries thought they were sacrificing for. The cognitive and emotional dissonance of our empire and our patriotism, including our religious identification with this nation, may break through the cultism and inspire, at least, the rejection of this false path. If we press this as cultural change and work politically to reject the false world order, we may be able to achieve the nonviolent change that seems daunting in the face of the War Machine and Security State.
Even if all we do is buffer the apocalypse, it is worth doing. Simply appreciating that the present order has no moral or political legitimacy and that the mammals will outlive the dinos is a good start.

Another March to War?

As far as I can determine the Presidency does not need our support to do these things anymore. Congress long ago stopped doing its job in that regard, and, after all, Congress represents us. The Presidency (whoever happens to occupy it) now carries on confidently as the CEO (sometimes also called Commander in Chief) of the MIC, and that's what really does these things. The stuff on their corporate media is just spectacle. Break out the beer and popcorn and enjoy.
As we enter the second decade of our "era of persistent conflict", now unofficially called the war formerly known as the global war on terrorism, or WFKATGWOT, a propaganda packaging of the illusion of ever looming dangerous international threat to our peace and safety that is necessary in order to keep the now well established Unitary Executive unitary and in charge of this inverted totalitarianism, we see that conflct has become increasingly fragmented and diffuse. What to do? Well, of course you need some fresh blood.
The MIC strategy in WFKATGWOT now dovetails with the rubber stamp Congress's domestic legalizing of the destruction of our Constitutional civil rights protections. Here's is Andrew Bacevich's latest summary of what WFKATGWOT has finally devolved to in Afghanistan, the "war" Obama promised to focus on in his presidency (why? The United States is finished with the business of sending large land armies to invade and occupy countries on the Eurasian mainland. Robert Gates, when still Secretary of Defense, made the definitive statement on that subject. The United States is now in the business of using missile-armed drones and special operations forces to eliminate anyone (not excluding U.S. citizens) the president of the United States decides has become an intolerable annoyance. Under President Obama, such attacks have proliferated.
This is America’s new MO. Paraphrasing a warning issued by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a Washington Post dispatch succinctly summarized what it implied: “The United States reserved the right to attack anyone who it determined posed a direct threat to U.S. national security, anywhere in the world.”
Furthermore, acting on behalf of the United States, the president exercises this supposed right without warning, without regard to claims of national sovereignty, without Congressional authorization, and without consulting anyone other than Michael Vickers and a few other members of the national security apparatus. The role allotted to the American people is to applaud, if and when notified that a successful assassination has occurred. And applaud we do, for example, when a daring raid by members in SEAL Team Six secretly enter Pakistan to dispatch Osama bin Laden with two neatly placed kill shots. Vengeance long deferred making it unnecessary to consider what second-order political complications might ensue.
Empires cannot be republics and do what they do. All empires are evil.
