Hundreds of Afghan demonstrators gathered outside a U.S. airbase in Kabul – angry over the mishandling of Korans by U.S. troops, who had removed religious material  from a detention facility and set it on fire.  Considering that the Koran is the word of God in the Muslim faith – burning it is considered desecration.  The U.S. military is now launching an investigation into what exactly happened – and why the Pastor Terry Jones method of Koran disposal was employed.

I understand about the whole

I understand about the whole "respecting their religious beliefs" thing but dozens of people have died over this burned book. Where is the sense of proportional harm in their and our culture?

At what point do the actions of the "religious" disqualify them from being able to use the "I'm acting on god's behalf" excuse. If you're killing people over a toasty Koran, the Koran is already toast because such a senseless use of violence should be a death sentence to any religion.

I wonder if the Muslims are as ignorant of the burned book as American christians are of the bible. That might explain a lot about world events.
