Miniprotesting is a crucial tool in making sure that folks in states with new voter ID laws confirm their ability to vote, know whom to call if there's any question, and know who wants to restrict their voting capability.

It only takes a few people to inform hundreds of folks on a given day with miniprotesting's concise, three-part messaging.

The miniprotesting model is a simple one. The power is what you can do with the tool. Miniprotests are made up of three small groups of four spread out over three consecutive street corners. Each group within this "protest string" has someone in its center holding a 30" x 40" main sign at waist level. The three folks around each central miniprotester hold traditional signs overhead. That way the focus of passing motorists will be on the three main signs at eye level which provide a running message like the old Burma-Shave rural roadside ads. This format allows a few seconds (or minutes if traffic is really bad which is ideal) for folks to digest each part of the message before they see the next.

Here's a miniprotesting main sign inscription set that should be spread throughout states with new voter ID laws:

Corner #1:  Don't Let New Voter ID Laws Catch You Out. Verify Your Ability to Vote

Corner #2:  Call [number of county registrar or other official] to Confirm Your Registration or Go To the DMV to Get Required ID

Corner #3:  Why the Voter Fraud Lie? Because the GOP Knows THEY CAN'T WIN IF THEY HAVE TO PLAY FAIR

Along with these main signs, the additional signs at each corner are crucial to the process. Some of their inscriptions could be, "Big Oil Koch Brothers Crafted These Voter Laws," and "GOP Think Tank ALEC Doesn't Want You to Vote," and "Voter ID Laws Target Elderly, Poor, Students."

If your state has new voter ID laws and you're itching to let the public know any way you can, you can't do it any more efficiently than this. If you're a member of a progressive organization, contact the local chairs and let them know about this option. Check out http://miniprotests.com to see just how easy it is to set up, and how quickly you can create your signs by emailing them to FedEx Office and having the inscriptions printed out on their 36'-wide roll paper. If you've got the people, you can Occupy Commute Routes within an hour.
