Mayor Booker

His comments on Private Equity were correct, but against the Progressive talking points. So, as with anyone who goes against the "Party" he is now being attacked. Typical Progressive way of shutting down debate.

Captain Kirk-"It...Must...Mean...Something..."

or would it be "It...MUST!..Mean..Something..."

or "It...MUST...mean...SOMEthing."

Marlin, just go back to Rachel's interview with Mayor Booker last night to get your argument shoved back in your face.

I think Booker is not rhetorically clear about venture v. equity capitalism; but he is very clear about who stands with him in urban America. He, and many on the Left, have to make the case for venture capital because the GOPimps confuse equity capitalism with it. They want to paint Obama and the Left as anti-capitalists while treating financial fraud as wealth creation.

I hope the debate evolves into a clear attack on Wall St. and financialism in defense of capitalism and democracy. I hope people appreciate what venture capitalism has to fear and loathe in the vultures; and I hope that honest bankers will revolt against the banksters who have corrupted their honest business.

In sum, liars have to know how to craft their lies and package them. Honest people may err in rhetoric or not appreciate the craft of the lie as they respond to it. Booker got caught being unclear, and when he heard how his comments were being construed, he got pissed and spoke back. I think he was unclear, but I know what he has said he meant and that does not give the cons any ground to stand on with him unless they repent and change their ways.

And, Booker is great in a housefire emergency. I hope the cons want to interview him so he can give them a clear correction on the needs of urban America.

I saw the Booker interview with Maddow, he quoted Popeye without crediting him. "I've taken all I can stand, and I can't stand no more". The other surrogate last week on MTP quoted Jim Morrisson without credit. "Who do you love?, Who do you love?" c'mon baby now who do you love?

The real story of private equity is on the thread titled.....Private Equity.

Just as the Republicans are busy purging their ranks of R's who aren't psychotic enough, liberals have done quite a bit of muttering about the blue-dogs among them. A few even got primaried. I'm not sure yet that Booker is one of these. It's quite a topic of discussion of Thom's show today. I was really bothered with him collaberating with Christie on those ads, and he has taken quite a bit of money fro Bain Capital people. Typical of Democrats, we are wary of circular firing squads. Our approach is a little bit different from the Republican way. Most important, that is our business. Not for Republicans to worry themselves over.

That is probably the way you will continue to want to see it no matter how much Booker says to the contrary. That is your problem. If you want to stand with Mayor Booker, you are going to have to give up your Rightwing crap. He ain't taking it. Head on down to Newark and stand with him. Don't take my word for it, take his.

Of course you will see it in your myopia and distortion. You will be wrong again, but that is how you will see it. Try a better meme. This one is too easy to counter.

I don't recycle mine.

Your Booker Post is best answered by Mayor Booker himself as he did yesterday in the interview with Rachel Maddow. You have every "right" to think he is a thought puppet who is easily made into another version of the GOPimp cult because of religious freedom. It may be what unites the Right, because it does not seem to be truth, honesty, integrity or any virtue. Just "true belief" or fear of Power, that's all it takes on the Right.

So, having watched conservatives being whipped into line when they dare utter a candid truth, I would expect those of that 'persuasion' to expect it in others. But, at the same time, they laugh at the disorganized and unsophisticated "messaging" of the Democrats and wonder why we cannot get all of our brand to vote together in a pinch. They have ideological clarity and that wonderful sense of Right v. Wrong--meaning not of their cult. For them, Obama merely has to be for it for them to be against it. Nothing more sophisticated is required. Not being in their cult makes one into an agent of evil one way or the other.

Mayor Booker, in your cultworld mind, has been brought into line. How about it just being a conversation with friends at the White House who show what the Right is doing with his comments? How about Booker seeing and hearing how others have distorted what he was saying or have expanded on an ambiguity or lack of clarity in something he did say against what he thought he was saying? People who speak in public need friendly feedback on how they are seen and heard. And, when others distort what they have said against their intentions, they have every right to correct the record.

If you listen to what he said, there was no ambiguity in his explanation for responding. He was not criticizing Obama or defending vulture capitalism. He found the "I stand with Cory" political ads disgusting and dared those who proclaimed that to come and stand with him on the issues that matter to his constituents in Newark. He had a long list. He also made clear that his respect for the venture capital and honest banking that serves Main street and gets his citizens back into the economy as positive players is not dimmed by his contempt for the Loan Sharks of Wall St. Those who see Obama's relatively mild reforms of Wall St. as an attack on capitalism and smear on venture capital are myopic and delusional. Booker does not come across as a spanked child. He is just pissed by being misused by propagandists with no integity. He tells you what he means with added clarity knowing where the liars have their traps set.

The world we're leaving for today's teens...

Without immediate global action on climate change, today's teenagers will be forced to live with the consequences of our inaction. The World Bank has issued their third report of climate change, and it says that global temperatures could rise by as much as 4 degrees Celsius by the time today's teens hit their 80th birthday.
