Higher Education Hustle

Universitiy models are now business models because states quit funding them, they have to recruit donors [millionaires and billionaires] that only want taught their own curriculum. The professors are now boiler room call center employees, seeking more customers, not students. Universities as profit centers is not the Thomas Jefferson ideal behind higher learning. Penn State was a profit center, and showed business has no morals if it costs profit. Academia used to be the center of ethics, now it cranks out thieves and the corporate lawyers to assist them.

This fits in with the infamous Powell memo. Academia job security is tenable, professors have to justify their courses.

The image I have is universities as dogs jumping for the treats in the hands of the kochtupus, good dog! Now kill more humanities studies, good dog! Teach the viability of MLM* business models, good dog!

*MLM is multi-level-marketing or Mormons Losing Money, amway etal. Big in Utah, big romney donors, they make up the entrepenuers he's always talking about jump starting the economy.

Here's an idea, how about universities allow the bright students to bring their inventions, ideas and discoveries into the business world like the 8 guys who combined their computer savvy that gave us the internet and the taxes that these new founded businesses pay go to funding universities.

There are 12 million patents sitting in the patent office right now that can be used to revitalize the American economy. Many thought up while in college. Yet we got the lousy FED paying banks not to make business loans to startup companies.

FED PAYING Banks To Withhold Loans From Citizens The FED paying banks not to use their excess capitol to make loans. ... Banks excess reserves at the Fed rose to a record $877.1 Billion daily average ... from 2 Billion a year earlier. ... The FED is paying banks higher int rates to keep their funds parked at the FED instead of loaning the money to the American people.

In reality if inventors were rewarded, colleges could fund themselves. Of course it means more science and math and less liberal arts in their curriculums. So feminists and sociolgists need to have more pragmatic courses..

A Rising Tide Only Lifts All Boats When Everyone Has a Boat.

President John F. Kennedy once said about economic development that “a rising tide lifts all boats.” Kennedy was, of course, right, but he missed something really, really important: A rising tide lifts only lifts all boats when everyone has a boat.
