I think the most important battle in the new Congress will be the attempt by Republicans to chip away at Social Security. They have already started by getting the President to agree to the 2% reduction in payroll deduction for Social Security. Next they will try to privatize SS which will be a disaster for working people and retirees. Haven't we learned our lesson that investment in the stock market is risky, especially with the weak regulations now in place. What we really need to do with SS is to eliminate the cap on payroll deductions so that all salary income pays into the SS fund. According to Senator Bernie Sanders that will keep the fund in great shape for the next 75 years. I can see the battle looming and all Progressives should be prepared to gird their loins!!
