Marking Mother's Day With Calls for Reform
On Mother’s Day, we celebrate and honor those who gave us life. However as a mother, every day I am reminded of a terrible war that is destroying the fabric of our families and putting our children at risk. The so-called War on Drugs happens all around us, but it is mostly a war on cannabis consumers. Today I hope that mothers will join me and pay attention to some peaceful solutions for marijuana. continued...
Mothers and Marijuana in Colorado
CN: With the birth of my first child 10 months ago, this is a very special Mother's Day for me. It is a time for me to pause and think about the mother I want to be to my little boy as he continues to grow. I plan to take some quiet time to imagine both the joys and challenges that lie ahead. Looking down the road, I know, like every other parent, that one of the greatest challenges my husband and I will face is the possibility of teen drug, tobacco and alcohol use. Fortunately, as a parent, I have more than a decade before that really becomes an issue. But as a Colorado citizen, I have the opportunity this year to address the subject on a societal level. continued...

Colombia passes first draft of bill to legalize drug crops | GlobalPost
Colombia is moving towards legalizing drug crops, as the country's House of Representatives passed the first draft of a bill that would decriminalize growing illegal drug plants, according to Columbia Reports.
The legislation, which was passed on Wednesday, calls for the decriminalization of growing cocoa, marijuana, and opium poppies.
However, while the plants would be legalized, ❝the processing and trafficking of drugs would remain subject to criminal sentencing,❞

❝The anti-marijuana campaign is a cancerous tissue of lies, undermining law enforcement, aggravating the drug problem, depriving the sick of needed help, and suckering well-intentioned conservatives and countless frightened parents. Dare has stranglehold on Drug education!
Communities should have alternatives to using the DARE program, becuause of it's ineffectiveness. There are other programs out there infinitely more effective, but DARE has a stranglehold on drug education. DARE has, you stated contributed to increased drug use, and should be replaced with a more effective program. DARE gets some of it's funding from Pharmaceutical companies, so there lies a dubious fact right there.

Snitches. Rats. Turncoats. Squealers. There's no shortage of names for people who start their criminal justice career on one side of the law, and then, through a series of self-preserving acts, find themselves working on the opposite side as confidential informants. Police informants get evidence, they help make cases, and they put themselves in danger to do it. Cops and prosecutors call them indispensable.
