Thom, get the gnat out...

Sanford Russell's picture

Thom, when are you going to get the gnat out of your eye so that you can see the elephant? How can you continue to praise Obama's intelligence given his record? Do his hollow speeches take you in? I've always believed in YOUR intelligence but when will you begin to use that intelligence in order to see the real Obama? Obama is shallow, weak, irredeemably naive, slavishly servile (when confronted by generals and wall street big shots) and he is effectively stupid. He is Wall Street's toy boy.

On today's "Democracy Now" Robert Scheer called him out. He said, correctly, that Obama's record is abysmal, disastrous and that Obama is a "front man for Wall Street." All, sadly, true. He had other pointed and "spot on" comments about Obama that you and your listeners might profitably consider. Please, please take the time to listen to the complete interview - and to also listen to the magnificent Elizabeth Warren whose speech follows the Scheer interview. She's my pick to become the next president - no second term for Obushma.

Robert Scheer has a new book out:

Robert Scheer, longtime journalist based in California. He is the editor of Truthdig and author of many books. His latest is The Great American Stickup: How Reagan Republicans and Clinton Democrats Enriched Wall Street While Mugging Main Street.

Wipe away that gnat, now!

Two different issues:  Is Obama intelligent? and Is Obama being used?  The fact that he is being used (and I agree with you that he is) does not mean that he's not intelligent.  He's intelligent AND he's being used, or allowing himself to be used.  There's no conflict of fact inherent in that.  It just speaks as poorly of Obama as he deserves.  Our first African-American president has indeed emerged as nothing more than an equal opportunity exploiter.

Ulysses, thanks for reading

Ulysses, thanks for reading my commentary and for questioning my evaluation of Obama's intelligence. I have changed my original statement to read "...effectively stupid." Still, it's difficult for me to understand how a supposedly intelligent person can continue to act so stupidly in both the domestic and the international arenas. Wall Street calls the shots for Obama's economic "policy" while the generals determine the course (and continuance) of the mid-east wars. And, perhaps worse, Obama allows Israel to exercise iron fisted control over U.S. foreign policy - just as his predecessors.
