Within the last 10 days or so there have been two would be scandals reported in the so called mainstreeam news. Firstly there was the episode with the secret service and their Columbian prostitute incident. Today there is the Hillary is a party girl hoopla. Are we so pristine in America that a woman can't have a drink and relax off duty? She is human afterall. Heck, with the tension and stress that goes with her job, Hillary deserves a moment to kick back and the tabloid who broke the story should be ashamed of this blatant scandal baiting. As for the secret service agents and their faux pas, I don't personally condone the entertainment of ladies of the evening, but were they off duty that night or not? Bad judgement aside. And why is there a double standard? Republicans can be wined and dined and entertained by ladies of the evening, smoke pot and inhale a truckload of cocaine, and it is quickly swept under the rug or out right dismissed. WTH. Lets move on people, nothing to see here but normal human beings. Can we address some real scandals like the never ending republican filibusters and stall tactics so that President Obama "can be a one term president" please? People need jobs and health care. I frankly don't care what people do in their personal lives.

Obama needs no help in creating scandals or becoming a one term president. His lack of leadership has caused a total lack of respect for him, and his office. It started with the Salahi's at the state dinner in 2009 on to the latest case involving the secret service. In between there are case after case of blantant screwups from fast and furious, Solyndra, Lightsquared, to the latest GSA mess. A google search could produce fifty more to add to the list. Apparently no one in his administration has any respect for him, or fear of his non existent repercussions. By her own admission, the head of the GSA stated that in the face of the "government wage freeze" they felt some employees were "entitled" to a bonus anyway. That philosophy comes from the top down. This man is a little "OZ" and lives behind a curtain. The country is finding out it takes more than a community organizer to run the country. He will try to divert it, but he will be forced to run on his record. The people will decide. The ironic part is, he has screwed the "progressives" more than anybody. Maybe you can get Bernie to run for Prez.

As for Hillary, let her dance. If she were President everyone would have been better off.

THissa, the whole "it takes more than a community organizer" line is usually what righties use to bash President Obama. And btw, you might not agree with President Obama's politics, but he has achieved quite a few things since being in office. Check out www.whatthehellhasobamadonesofar.com for a list of his accomplishments. But you are missing the point. What happens in someone's personal life should not be an issue and also, there is a double standard. Hillary drinking a beer and relaxing, should not even be news worthy. I stand by my original point, the news media and the right wing are trying to whip up a scandal, derail us from what should really be talked about and worked on, ie., unemployment, bringing jobs back to this country (meaning trade laws and outsourcing), the banksters and other mega corps that are "too big to fail", that put our country at risk, health care etc. Sooner or later they, the right wing media, will keep telling a lie until it sticks, or they will fluff up that molehill into a mountain and we wont know what hit us until another republican is in office building up more debt and allowing their corporate friends to finish ripping us off and leaving the country irreparable.

Neither the president of the US nor cabinet members are ever “off duty” nor are those who accompany them in an official capacity outside the boundaries of the country. If these officials and high ranking representatives of the US don’t understand this they should not have the jobs nor hold office. Below I’ve pasted only one example of the general reaction in Latin America to the prostitution scandal. As for Hillary, she disgraced herself and besmirched the office while insulting her hosts.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/nilegardiner/100150955/is-hillary-clinton-becoming-an-embarrassment-as-secretary-of-state/

Nile Gardiner

Nile Gardiner is a Washington-based foreign affairs analyst and political commentator. He appears frequently on American and British television, including Fox News Channel, CNN, BBC, and Fox Business Network.

Is Hillary Clinton becoming an embarrassment as Secretary of State?

The overwhelmingly liberal US media is treating the story as a bit of fun, with the usually austere Mrs Clinton seen as letting her hair down. But I suspect that a lot of US taxpayers will see it differently – as a senior government official having a jolly time on an official overseas junket at taxpayers’ expense. And this was hardly a display of good judgment at a time when nearly 13 million Americans are unemployed, and US soldiers are laying their lives on the line every day in Afghanistan. In an effortless display of leading from behind, Hillary was partying in Colombia while the Taliban were about to launch a wave of terror attacks in Kabul.

It is hard to imagine Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright or Henry Kissinger “livin' la vida loca” on the world stage. This was less an example of “smart power” than a boozy nightclub audition for the sixth season of Jersey Shore. Hillary Clinton’s Colombian antics are an embarrassment for a high-level cabinet member on official duty, and have lowered the office of Secretary of State. Not exactly the sort of image the federal government should be projecting at a time of widespread public disillusionment with Washington excesses.

http://eleconomista.com.mx/internacional/2012/04/15/escandalo-sexual-opaca-colombia-cumbre-las-americas

I never thought that I'd be supporting THISAA but in this case, yes. Obama's broken promises highlight Obama's failures, his hypocrisy and his incompetence. Any list of his supposed accomplishments are usually not Obama's but rather acomplishments of Congress, often with little or no input from Obama. In those few instances when he did join the fight it was already too late, most notably in the health care debate. Keep in mind that the list that follows catalogs promises MADE and NOT KEPT. It was compiled by the Pulitzer Award winning Politifact.com. Here's the list and the address of the group's web page:

However, the vast majority of the items on the list are opposed by the right. This explains the absence of any of them on THISAA's list.

The only hope might be a write in campaign for someone like Elizabeth Warren. But I've no idea if that would even be allowed.

I can't see how anyone, after reading this list of broken promises, and after scrutinizing his record, could vote for Obama.
