American Immigration Law should protect American Citizens in legitimate marriages to foreign nationals. Currently draconian provisions of the law create family separations of 3 and 10 years as punishment for minor Immigration violations and in some cases permanent inelgibilty for a spouse to enter the US in certain circumstances. Armed robbers get a less severe sentence than a simple VISA overstay.

Certainly its important to fix Immigration Law in every respect that is unfair, impractical or inhumane. That said, the failure of our Congress and Senate to fix this know agregious situation speaks loudly in testament they are more concerned with their collective political hides than families they represent.
