Free trade is killing our economy. We need to protect our industries as many G8 members already do, we are just the moron's in the club that lets many of our industries compete against lower wage environments and governments that put up capital just to get their people work. Canada, France are just two that come to mind that put up cash to get film production work in their countries, there are many, many more examples. This is the topic of my latest left of center political cartoon series, I call "We Want Our Jobs Back"! It's up on my website now, http://www.whatnowtoons.com

What, Me Worry?

Many thanks for the great 'toons. I'm urging everybody to spread these words of wisdom on the internet. Thomas Nast's political cartoons shed enough light on Tammany Hall's Boss Tweed to ultimately end his grafting criminal career, stating:

"Stop them damned pictures. I don't care so much what the papers say about me. My constituents don't know how to read, but they can't help seeing them damned pictures!"

Morons or not, it's time for us Real Americans to get Nast-y!

Thanks for the kind comments. I appreciate them. I wish I was in more than a small handful of papers, but the truth is I am not, at least we have the internet to get the information to people. Cartoons are a way that is easy to grasp in a brief moment and thusly get them to read more about important topics, however many papers are owned by the right, and the ones that are not are struggling to survive because of reduced ad revenue. All this "Merger Mania" that started when Regan "Relaxed" the anti trust laws, has given us a world of less competition, and control of ad revenue that goes to media, thus a control of media. Those of us who choose not to take the easy rout and tout the propaganda of the right, find ourselves on the short end of the pay scale. Thom, Randi, Malloy could all be millionaires if they chose the dark side, well the same goes for cartoonists, I was offered a national syndication slot, "IF" I would do "Conservative" cartoons, because that is where the market is. Well I say hell no, I have to draw what I believe in. So if you and others could write letters, emails, to your local weekly alternative newspaper and let them know that they should cary What Now Toons, it would help.

Cheers

KT

Should public radio program in the public interest?

NPR is supposed to be our national public radio, but they're barely covering climate issues that are in the public's interest.

Only one month ago, a national New York Times/CBS News poll found that half of all Americans think that global warming is already having a serious impact. Sixty percent of those surveyed even said that protecting our environment should be a priority “even at the risk of curbing economic growth.”
