I went to the fair did a straw poll about the Sheriff's election and I found that the people on Lopez already call Robert Nou 'Sheriff Nou'.

I talked with the women who make fudge on Lopez and they loved him and had stories that made me comfortable with Nou. (Nou who was basically unknown to me). I was scared because he seemed very conservative at the League of Women's Voter's Forum

Medicare Problems Not Fault of Government

I have not heard anyone discuss this, and maybe I'm off base, but doesn't it make sense that Medicare problems are directly related to stagnant, private sector wages not keeping pace with costs? The higher the wages, the more money going into the fund. So, while medical costs are rising, wages aren't and therein lies the biggest problem, IMHO.

So, again, people are blaming the government when it's a result of the private sector policies.

I don't believe I've heard this discussed, but if anyone has could you post a link for the info. Thanks!

The tale of the two Georges

With recent events on my mind, I ponder on the details of father and son, the two Georges.

Being the leader of possibly the greatest economic power on Earth, George the father was known to keep his finger on the international pulse on the economy. There came a time when he felt he needed military intervention to stabilize a foreign interest.

Wow Terry Jones is crazy

So this nutjob wants to burn the Qur'an as some sort of retort to 9/11? He says that Islam is the Devil? He sounds like Bobby's mother from the Waterboy when he says that. This guy is one of those people who believe that if its not his ideas or his religion then it must be "the Devil." I love how he kept dodging Thom's insightful questions about if Catholics should apologize for the murder of abortion doctors. He kept dodging the question and contradicting himself. Its people like this who hold back the progress of our nation.

Judging the Muslim Religion

Tudging is not the way

Fluoride

The city I grew up in was one of the first to get fluoride and even though I was fairly young, I still remember the fight over it, with the antifluoridians saying it was a commie plot. As my teeth were formed without the additional fluoride, I had countless fillings, and now as a woman in my late 50s, these are constantly causing me problems, needing replacement, and causing a lot of morbidity. The same is true of most of my friends of a similar age.

Defining the American Dream is important to its debate

I was thinking about the American Dream like was discussed on Wednesday's program. The disconnect here is not what the American Dream is, but how it is defined. The guest is envisioning the American Dream as being people's wildest dreams and desires, while Thom is defining it as being what people expect from life in America. The reason it was called the American Dream is because never before has there been a society where the working class had it so well. America was the envy of the world's working people because of how much we had.

TABOO SUBJECT?

The other day a caller to Thom's show made a rather sexist comment, to the effect that "men are killers, and women are nurturers." Thom did not correct this caller or the sexism of the comment, and in his response, Thom said, "That's a subject for another day."

I haven't heard much from Thom about sexism or misogyny in culture, except for his opinion that where women have education, life is better for all in any society, or to that effect.

I would like to hear more on the subject from Thom.

Does Trump "Tweet" When His Staff Says No?

Thom plus logo Lev Parnas tells the story of how Donald Trump fired ambassador Marie Yovanovitch at least "four or five times," and that they were afraid that he would "fire her with a tweet." This is not the first time we have heard from White House insiders that the president often gives irrational or stupid orders that his staff then ignores.
