Too Big to Fail means Too Big to Feel!

I thought of this little slogan when all the Corporate Bailouts started happening and saw little to no relief to the homeowners, workers and common people. Every social ill and bad economic situation that seems to happen can be traced back to a multinational corporation, who regardless of what the Supreme Court says about Corporations being people, truly can't "Feel our Pain". I think you are one of the few intelligent shining lights of truth out there and hope you can use it. Steve Koch Bellingham, Washington

More Boxer/Fiorina - Corporatist showdown

We need progressive media to cover last night's debate!

Boxer said some classic Thomisms like Made in America and CEO's being rewarded for failure.

Hope Thom, Randi Rhodes etc come out strong and highlight the debate and campaigns of Boxer and Brown. Maybe hype it as corporatist showdown of the century!

Come on Thom, progressive media get on the offensive like Fox and right wing media does.

Who Killed JFK?

On Nov 22nd, 1963 President Kennedy was assassinated in
Dallas TX. This marked the beginning of the in-your-face
takeover of our country by The Military Industrial Complex.
Who pulled the trigger?

Predator drones and terrorism

I wonder what it is like to lie in bed at night knowing there are unmanned aircraft 24/7 flying above your home. You have heard the stories of middle of the night attacks from these drones where, with no warning, they fire missles that kill everyone in a given location. Perhaps one of your relatives or friends have allready been killed by the occupiers. Ypu can't sleep, you are filled with anxiety and fear, you wake up with a panic attack. You are in a state of terror. You have been terrorized, and you have done nothing to deserve this.

We are all in this together. "All along your true self enjoys a peaceful, parallel life that you can join with any time you have a loving thought." (from "The Lightworkers Way" by Doreen Virtue.

Thom reminds me every day that we already are ONE mind, ONE body, ONE global being. Once we figure out how to relax into the Presence that we share, we can begin to co-create a world that shows who/what we already are.

Iraq War and Unintended Consequences

On Wednesday's show Carl mentioned the "unintended consequences" of the Iraq war, namely the consequent empowerment of Iran. Carl just mentioned this in passing with out expounding fully but I feel the need to vent. The empowerment of Iran was clearly a predictable consequence of invading Iraq. It was very simple actually.

Government provides the foundation for our individual rights. We wouldn’t have any rights without government.

A Capital Idea Part 28: The Highest Common Denominator

Thom or SOMEBODY, help me with this question!

I would like to know if what my conservative friends are telling me is true about the new healthcare bill. Here are a few points that they often make:

1. If you have health insurance from your employer, you will be taxed on those benefits.

2. Employers will also be taxed for offering health insurance to individuals.

3. Since "1" and "2" are correct, then that means everyone will be moved into a higher "tax bracket" and will be taxed even more.

Is there any truth to this?

Thom plus logo As the world burns, and more and more fossil fuels are being used every day planet-wide, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels passed 416 ppm this week at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. In the 300,000 years since the emergence of modern humans, carbon dioxide levels have never been this high.
