I hereby commit to the Progressive Cause. To me, that means returning our Country (as a whole and the citizens, as individuals)--and even the world at large--to our basic foundation, "We the People" and that entails realizing "Power to the People" by simply using it in my own personal life for my own personal betterment with the ultimate goal to make this world a better place. My goal is to help create a New Renaissance/Age of Enlightenment to stamp out cruelty, injustice, inequality and corruption. But my intention is to focus on the positive while being aware of the negative.
With all the technology available in the 21st century, the United States has developed Drone warfare, and seems to be very successful in the program. It seems in the last 5 years or so, their use has literally "taken off." Democrat or Repuglican, everybody seems to be on board. I guess they are comparable to the new tanks they are using that have jet engines and can kill at a mile, accurately. Anyway, America has amazing weaponry. Who could deny?
Thom likes to quote Ben Franklin:
Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - 4-17-1775
I agree with Franklin's perspective. I would prefer having the plane in which I am travelling explode in mid-air than be forced to go through an x-ray machine, or be groped by someone under the pretense that these actions are making you and me safer. There is no safety in a police state, and a police state is that into which the United States is rapidly evolving.
I hope that my profile picture of a lone Burmese monk standing up armed Myanmar soldiers inspires courage. We are living in tough times of war, economic uncertainty, and injustice. May the spirit of the Saffron Revolution spreads outside of Burma.
Thom might of been tired today but his interview with Tim Cavinaugh of Reason Magazine was with the most unreasonable man I have heard in a very long time. Cavinaugh would not allow Thom to speak. He talked over Thom the whole time. Thom was irritated like anyone would be but Thom Hartman was a lot kinder than I would of been. Cavinaugh does not deserve to be heard anymore than he allows others to be heard. If Cavinaugh has something to say let the SOB say it on Fox where I don't have to hear him. Thanks Thom for everything you do.
Ok, I knew I couldn't get Thom's radio show in Mexico or Central America, but a friend who lives in Puerta Monte, Chile DID get it along with Rachael Maddow and the MSNBC gang. He can no longer get Thom or any MSNBC broadcast. What's up with that? Am I to read into it a Right wing conspiracy to control the media? Gee, wouldn't surprise me, but I hope not. What, if anything can be done?
Looking through various USDOJ fraud cases of the last decade I have catalogued, investigators routinely remark of their perps and their acitivities, "and this is just a tip of the iceberg." It has became a stock comment which never leads anywhere.
