Supreme Court not the only Judicial Appointments!

Dear Thom and Progressive Readers--

Let's avoid getting fixated on Supreme Court appointments and what we might suppose Obama can do for them. Please check out the article by Jamelle Bouie in the December American Prospect. "The Vacancy Crisis: Obama has made fewer judicial nominations than any president in recent history--with disastrous consequences."

Relocating to D.C.

Will you be relocating to D.C.? Thom seems to depend on you and several other persons on his staff.

DADT and Getting to Mars

Hey, you know I was looking at my miles with United/Continental and British Air and I was wondering if I have enough to fly the one way trip to Mars as proposed by two scientists. As you know that suggestion was written by Washington State University astrobiologist Dirk Schulze-Makuch and Arizona State University physicist Paul Davies in an article they co-wrote entitled “To Boldly Go.” Because of the constant radiation suspected to be on the red planet the idea involves men in their '60's for whom the health of their reproductive organs is not an issue. A bit of Science in Organizing

I've observed politics and the human condition since the age of five. I have a definite line of thought of how to beat Citizens United. It's not an easy path, but, I see no other way considering the current state of discourse.

I sincerely believe that life is an evolutionary process on the micro and macro levels at that same time. Despite our shortcomings as human beings - which are especially acute in such an economic environment as that which we now experience - I still find reason for hope.

Rally to Restore Wimpy...last call...

OK, OK, OK...so Keith was more eloquent and historically factual and reflective outside my tiny world of working with political comics and political satirists. Keith's slapdown, or as my dad would say...his "come-uppance"...of Mockingbird Media Ted Koppel will stand as an American Classic. No doubts! [Ever check out Project Mockingbird?...it ain't over yet!]

So, at the very least there is some harmony...a harmony that should disturb anyone reading my posts...and watching Keith being Keith.

The most expensive entitlement is protection of wealth.

The very wealthy have unfairly avoided paying their fair share of taxes. The most fundamental and the most expensive function that US government performs is the protection of wealth through the military, judicial system, intelligence and other agencies. And this protection serves the wealthy more than the non wealthy. The 9\11 terrorists targeted big buildings and big business. The terrorist didn’t target the middle class. If the share that the rich had to pay for war was in proportion to the size of their assets, what do you think would happen?

Rebooting The American Dream on truth-out.org

David Sirota, during today's Michael Brown segment, said the next installment, which should be Chapter 1, is now available. I cannot find it on their site. How does one access it? I tried various search techniques, even coming from outside on a search engine, but to no avail.

The Thom Hartmann Program - Aug 30th 2018

It seems it's all racism, all the time w/the GOP...Neo-Nazi robocall hits Iowa on Molly Tibbett’s murder: “KILL THEM ALL. ” Richard Wolff drops by about the National Debt. Is it a disaster or an OK thing? Also - Trump & The National Enquirer - Is the Economy Here To Serve Us Or Are We Here to Serve the economy?
