The Obama campaign sent out an email today asking supporters to urge Congress to at least vote on the president’s jobs bill almost immediately after Democratic majority leader Harry Reid blocked a vote on the bill in the Senate.
The latest and perhaps lamest excuse being offered by Progressive talking heads that undermines our democracy is the one that says Obama needs us to “…force him to do it.”
Senators who put the interests of big corporations before their constituents are trying to push through a measure that would give phone and cable corporations complete control over the Internet.
I do agree last election cycle changing the rules wouldve been worthless as they had lost the house. I was dissapointed that this was not done in 2009 as the Democrats wouldve been able to enact virtually every piece of progressive legislature out of the House. Perhaps even universal health care. As many blue dogs as you want, i still you had 51 or at least 50 (plus biden) in the Senate, so I am not much for the excuses of this administration which i will assume as rookie mistakes which will not happen again.
You have probably seen the pie chart below. (Thom's newsletter for Oct 4th linked to an article containing it.) But the problem in trying to understand it is that there's nothing equal about the wedges. They represent different amounts of wealth and different percentages of the population. It's hard to see that the average member of the top 1% has 480 times the wealth of the average member of the bottom 80%.
so the mainstream media wants us to justify the movement? Frankly this is a stupid and rhetorical question. The main stream media is playing coy with us and I don't feel compelled or obligated to answer them. Why should we? Are they going to help bring awareness to the movement? No, they are going to exploit our agenda to their advantage for ratings. I could care less that they want us to explain ourselves. I have expected the mainstream media to inform the public of the important issues surrounding our everyday lives and they have failed miserably.
