This article by Maeve Reston and Seema Mehta of the Tribune Newspapers group was posted on the Los Angeles Times web site. It discusses the Romney campaign's desire to keep parts of their economic plan away from voters ... what happened to being able to make an informed decision ?

What would Romney cut? Overheard conversation holds clues ...

While looking for updates on the above article on google, I found this little medley of video clips about Mitt and his plans (or lack of plans) for releasing his tax forms :

What's Mitt Hiding? - YouTube

The search results also revealed this item from www.americanbridgepac.org that contains a link for a petition you can sign to ask Mitt to release his tax returns :

While still on that google search results page, I found there were several more hits on "What's Mitt Hiding" ... have fun browsing ... this page should pick up more updates as they are filed (and to be fair, it will pick up items from "both sides of the aisle") :

I know a lot of time has passed since this post was placed on the board, and a lot of articles have been written about Willard ... i mean Mitt ... and the lack of depth to his tax return releases. This article by Joshua Green in Bloomberg Businessweek is the first one I have seen that states a theory that I have heard at least once on the radio ... that Mitt may be hiding the fact that he paid no federal income taxes ("legally") in 2009 due to the stock market downturn in 2008 and his off-shoring of income.

Very interesting theory, if you ask me; this is the best explanation i have seen for why Mitt is willing to take all this flack from Democrats and some in his own party for not releasing more returns. Why, his own Dad, George Romney, released 12 years of returns back in 1967 when he ran for president. It appears that "like father, like son" does not apply to Willard and his tax returns.

I love this show. The Ken Doll of Wall St. is the author of Obama's big 'win,' making all the talk about Obamacare have to compete with old clips from Mass. But even more fatal, as universal hatred for the banksters and their continuing deaf, dumb and blind arrogant acting out in public, Romney's finances and career become exhibit Number One on what is wrong with the "moneyman."

His father was an actual businessman and responsible political candidate. George could disclose all his taxes because his money was made making things or, at least, in the management of companies that made things of value. He was not the Big Three, but he was a pre-outsourcing capitalist and executive.

Son Mitt, however, has always been in the financial 'services' trade. He did not invest in businesses to make them solid and sustainable producers of value. What he learned in Biz School and as a son of Privilege was how to take his million dollar headstart and multiply it using leveraged buyouts and debt transfers. He may still believe that this is honest business and not a way to cheat. Few on Wall St. have any moral compass or ability to listen to what others are saying and learn. They are amazed that we think of them as "banksters." So Mitt is probably free of conscience conflict about how he made his money.

Which is why he is outraged to be asked to show his books; and why he knows that what is in those books will be used to his own disadvantage. Is it that others just don't know how business works and why vulture capitalism is not fraud or piracy? I think he has convinced himself that this is so.

But, he also knows that the tax returns are going to become a debate about ethics and capitalism. Perfectly legal is not enough for our votes. Being able to play in the Richie Rich Club where the rules are not the same as they are for the rest of us hits that 99-1% groove. Watching their party on tv from the local bar does not cut it. The 1% have some 'splainin' to do, and Mitt is a living Powerpoint presentation on the problem of financialism. They ain't his Daddy's tax returns.

So, let's have some fun. If he does not release the returns, let's go wild with the possible things he could be hiding. We are way behind in creative conspiracy theories. Ours have been credible interpretations of the available evidence, and when the tin hats come out we go to the other side of the room.

But not the GOPimps. First the Birther Scheme. My favorite conspiracies have this Manchurian Candidate quality of advanced planning and precision execution of impossible goals over decades. These are the kind of plots that make you want to find the competent people who have pulled them off and install them as emperor of the world for life. If they can get a kid born to a Kenyan father his faked Hawaiian birth certificate, and arrange for his early catechism by the Immams and get him back to Honolulu and then to college and to the top, President of the Harvard Law Society--and he has Black Skin all this time. Wow! Notice that he even goofs off and hangs out with the surfers, so his brilliant talent is not the grind or he put in more time or "worked harder." How did they create this guy in the first place? Put them in charge of everything NOW!

Of course, once he has become a constitutional scholar and worked as a community organizer, next step, the White House. Can you follow all this, because I am dazzled by the way it all works out in reality. Is God pulling this off?

I have far less respect for the Fast and Furious Furor. It is a warmed over TV plot where the newbie is framed by the crooks; and the idea that Obama was trying to "get your guns" is more like the annoying ads that run over and over to make nonsense sound meaningful. Even the Impeachment episode was lousy.

Do you want to hear a debate about economics between Obama and Romney? As long as it is not just slogan bashing, and if anyone is willing to entertain an idea not already enshrined in polemical gilt, I would love to hear Mitt justify Bain. Go ahead and try. Tell us more. Dig that hole a bit deeper. And Obama does not understand America and how it works? Unbelievable. But, even if he didn't, you know his Birther Masters do.

Until Mitt releases his tax returns in full, here are some documents we can go through:

There's a 1 in 20 Chance of the Apocalypse. Shouldn't We Act Now?

A new study published in Science argues that we as a civilization need to move "rapidly" -- as in almost immediately -- towards a carbon emissions free future if we are to have any chance of holding off runaway global warming:
