Ryan and Boehner agree with Obama and Krugman: We do not have an immediate debt crisis...so, why all the cuts and hysteria?

Boehner and Ryan and McConnell and the rest of the republicans so-called "leaders" have been generating one made-up crisis after another for over two years to gin up enough fear to back up their repeated hostage takings. So what do they do now that the cat is out of the bag, and they have admitted they have just been scaring us, if not lying to us?

It's time to end this charade, stop the excessive vacations, stop the obstructionist tactics, and stop sucking up to the rw billionaires, and time to raise revenue and stimulate the economy. It's time to end the sequester and austerity b.s. ... the cuts will put more people out of work and will increase the deficit, not lower it, as they say.

The trouble is taking action will involve working with Democrats, and the Black Man in the White House.

My head sure gets snapped around on this kind of thing. The prevailing wisdom on this seems to be that Boehner, Ryan and President Obama are all in this "kabuki dance" together. That it's all just theater intended to enrich the banksters, advance neo-liberal ideology and screw us little people.

I'm waiting to see what they have to say over on Counterpunch or Prison Planet. As an "intellectually incurious" observer, I just don't know how to think about this stuff without these fine sources.

No, this is more like Charlie Brown, Lucy and the football. Boehner and Ryan act like this time they'll work with the President to fix the economy, but then when it comes down to it there will be no compromise by Boehner. It is all his way or the highway. So one deadline as manufactured crisis is averted barely replaced by another worse one.

Prison for Miscarriages?

Thom plus logo Mike Pence's and the GOP's war on women took a sinister turn this week when Planned Parenthood was forced to abandon Title X funding; they can no longer get payment for serving low income women for cancer screenings and STD treatments.
