I was first checking out the article on EcoWatch titled "Does Elon Musk's Tesla Model-S Signal the Beginning of the End of Oil?" when I followed up and checked out the original article that is actually on the cover and inside of "Alberta Oil, The Business of Energy" Magazine. It's an interesting article and so is the videos on the EcoWatch article. What do you think?

I thought I had figured out how to make BOTH of the links on the first article work but it didn't happen this time so here is the 2nd working link.

Sorry about that!

A sane vehicle to drive, non-petroleum... as a chic option for multi-millionaires (and up) to show they're not as selfish as they seem. Meanwhile, everyone else has to shut up and keep sucking oil. Real progress.

I look at the changes over the past 10 years and am very optomistic about the next 10 years. As long as we keep Republicans out of office, which we are not doing a good job.

I'm less impressed with all electric cars compared to flex-fuel plugin hybrids that clearly will have a longer range. And we should not delude ourselves that no oil goes into the making of these electric cars.

Yes about 71% of USA petroleum goes to the transportation sector, globally about 45%. Electric vehicles would be a big help to reducing oil consumption. In particular charging at night on cheap, plentiful nighttime nuclear baseload electricity. That would actually improve the efficiency of the grid. Realistically though, a change from ICE to EV will be very slow.

The fastest way to achieve that is by factory producing standardized conversion packages and putting some of the big mass of unemployed to work in specialized shops that convert old ICE vehicles to EVs. The whole thing could be financed by greenbacks created by the US government, rather than letting private banks create our money supply, using it to make their super rich buddies even richer, and payoff their criminal, financial fraud.

Biomass to methonal & DME is the best carbon free method of creating an alternative fuel. Ethanol is just a scam and a joke, an eco-disaster.

Also large shipping can be converted to nuclear power, as are Naval Aircraft carriers, submarines and Russian Icebreakers.

A lot of transportation can be moved to electrified rail and contrary to popular belief, battery electric trucking is feasible for a majority of truck routes.

The economics of shifting from oil fueled to electric transportation is being ruined by throwing vast amounts of money into nutty renewable energy scams that only serve to push up the price of electricity, making it less competitive with imported, job-killing , child-killing terrorist oil. Energy substitution is about keeping electricity prices low.
