Imagine if there was an executive order forcing them to focus only on repairing bridges! And other infrastructure with D ratings before construction of new projects can go forward!

Big government and crony capitalism/nepotism/Pork projects go hand in hand.

That is why government is inherently inefficient.

Of course we pay more for prison privatization, just like any other government contract with a private corporation.

Whenever government hands out checks and it is politicians deciding who gets the $$$ guess what happens? Crony capitalism/nepotism/ pork projects.

Private contractors cheat and violate contracts all the time, the money skimmed is profit. Govt systems have not insentive. The Post office pays for itself, no profit margin to increase by cheating. Social security is efficient, low cost, and no incentive for fraus. Medicare is defraused but by private goons, not administrators. Congressmen steal from their bundlers, then have to offer them something big when they're caught..

Functioning governments are not corrupt, america's excuse for government is.

The hillbillies in Tennessee would still be pumping a handle to get their drinking water and burning lanterns if it wasn't for TVA.

In my community, we have lakes full of fish where people boat and swim and sail thanks to the Corps of Engineers. We also have a small Corps of Engineers lake not for boating fishing or swimming that provides drinking water for the 13,000 residents.

Deciding where to allocate the money is the problem, should I provide examples of wasteful pork projects or would you agree to the stipulation?

The profit incentive keeps cost down with fully private projects. When the corporate-government complex comes together with the profit incentive and the blank checkbook of government that is when the budgets really get out of control

Can the Presidency Regain Its Integrity After Trump?

Thom plus logo Even those of us old enough to remember have probably forgotten that in the spring of 1979 the Attorney General of the United States appointed a special prosecutor to look into his own president's ownership of his peanut warehouse, to make sure that he wasn't, in any way, making money from his presidency.
