"The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro"

*****

At a time like this, scorching irony, not convincing argument, is needed. O! had I the ability, and could reach the nation's ear, I would, to-day, pour out a fiery stream of biting ridicule, blasting reproach, withering sarcasm, and stern rebuke. For it is not light that is needed, but fire; it is not the gentle shower, but thunder. We need the storm, the whirlwind, and the earthquake. The feeling of the nation must be quickened; the conscience of the nation must be roused; the propriety of the nation must be startled; the hypocrisy of the nation must be exposed; and its crimes against God and man must be proclaimed and denounced.

Alberto, I've waited, watched and sat on my hands for a full week now, even though I've had almost psychicaly do so.

The dearth of comments or any additions to this thread speaks louder than any words ever could, no.

Yes, rs allen, it surprised me as well. Maybe I should have made the image larger. It's very personal for me and, of course, for others as well. We were in the office with Michael's wife, waiting but with hope fading as the hours passed. Finally we received the sad, tragic news.

It didn't and doesn't suprise me at all Alberto. You could've made the image bigger, heck even put flashing neon lites around the border and I'd bet the response would've been the exactly the same.

Its' the same collective shrug america has given the Black, Brown and Red faces since. Uh, that is when they haven't been actively supressing us and taking our rights away.

It could have been a great country. Instead there's trump and - even worse - his supporters. What sort of country is it where members of the congressional judicial committee strongly support trump's pardon of vile racist scum arpaio?

Trumpkof? Oh I don't know Alberto, I maintain he is just the lastest manifestation and the only real thing anyone objects to is his ham fisted way of going about it.

No one really made any fuss about any of the other past eight presidents or administrations on that cause and all of them have worked towards the same ends and been rewarded for it. They all just used a cleaner more nuanced language that can be counted as the only substantial difference between them and trumpkof.

This country was born in genocide, build on slavery and maintained by theft from anothers resources with the sword.. Don't you know its' their god given right?

This country will never change. And it'll only be fitting that in some distant future some paleontologist unearths a statue of a lee or calhoun and dusting it off thinks ahah so this is what that society was about.

Trump Is Using Racist White People To Make The Rich Richer

There is this whole mythology that Donald Trump came to power because 53% of white women voted for him, because 66% of white working men who didn't have a college degree voted for him.

That may be, but those are not his constituents. Those are his suckers. Those are his rubes.
