On his show on RT Thom keeps comparing Obama Care to Medicare and Social Security.
The ACA is not Medicare or SS which are GOVERNMENT FUNDED AND DIRECTED PROGRAMS. The ACA is mostly a private, for profit system and the motivation for it's creation was not to provide adequate, affordable healthcare to U.S. citizens. The primary motivation (as Obama keeps telling people) is to lower costs for corporations, maybe through getting rid their superior healthcare programs and dumping their employees on the exchanges. (The ACA has tax or fee for companies that don't provide healthcare but the cost is less than providing healthcare so you (and they) know what will probably happen)
Also: There is a mandate on the public to buy it but no corresponding mandate on the insurance industry to provide quality, AFFORDABLE healthcare.
As Democrats usually do they used some bait in the trap to suck in progressives and the public like forbidding insurance companies from turning away people with a prior condition. (they could have done that without the ACA)
It's just like Democrats usually offer a tiny raise on the tax rate for the rich to sucker people into voting for them but then take out the hatchet and hack 3-4 times that amount from healthcare, safetly, environmental clean-up, education etc. (What Gov. Jerry Brown has done in California is a good example of this scam)
If I'm wrong I'll be as happy as anyone, because I am not rich, but I'm have a bad feeling about this legislation.
