The most outrageous thing about the Flint debacle is, to me, the very existence of the Michigan emergency manager law. Rarely does anybody mention it. What's outrageous about it is the way the Republicans in Michigan got it passed. First they got the bill passed, then the voters of Michigan got it on the ballot and repealed it by popular vote, and then -- and this is the OUTRAGEOUS part -- the Republicans immediately passed another emergency manager law, and the governor signed it, and this time one of the provisions of the law was that it could not be put on the ballot and voted down by the voters of Michigan! Talk about not only ignoring, but showing absolute CONTEMPT for the will of the people! But that's what Republicans do. They don't care what the people want, they're just going to go ahead and do what they want anyway. That's one of the reasons why I believe Republicans are not FIT for public office. Just think about the arrogance those Republicans showed in getting that horrible law passed that second time. It just makes steam rise from the top of my head every time I think about it. -- Ron

At least they are actually going to prosecute some people. Instead of just a fine, can the government charge itself a fine? With criminal Banksters, nobody gets prosecuted, no decisions were made by anybody, the CEOs, BODs all say "we knew nothing". Only the Bank gets fined, and they create that fine out of thin air. And then deduct it from their taxes. Some punishment. Similar crimes get teenagers 15 yrs in the slammer.
