About those bread sacks (Joni Ernst). Growing up poor meant making own bread (if possible) in the Midwest, not eating "store-bought" bread which provided the sacks Ernst talks about.

Another thought about the bread bags, which I remember putting on my shoes in order to get my feet into those rubber boots/galoshes in the late 60's. It had nothing to do with being poor. Walking in wet plastic bags on wet surfaces is an invitation to disaster as they're very slippery. Can you imagine a busload of kids running (because children don't walk - they run) through wet school halls with slippery wet bread bags on their feet? I sure hope she's misremembering as opposed to fabricating her story.

I listened to Thom discussing his studio's dismal COMCAST service on his show this morning. After my own COMCAST nightmare that went on for months -- even after my contract had ended -- I couldn't resist posting my "opinion" on MeanMesa:

Legalizing marijuana is okay if billions can be extracted from the Commonwealth to support State and Wall Street's ability to commodify and securitize? If it is okay to leagalize, it should be okay to leagalize. Period.

Thom said yesterday that it was fairly documented that Morning Joe was in the tank for Hillary. I challenge Thom to find a pro Hillary segment from the Morning Joe program. There isn't one. They HATE Hillary and we're just trying to get a feud going in the democratic primary.

Hi THom, I just wanted to say that I thought Bernie did pretty well last night, considering that Hillary had home field advantage, due to the fact that Time-Warner which owns CNN is the 7th largest contributor to the Clinton campaign.

Just as dishonest people tend to be cynical, I think Republicans believe other people are evil like them. An honest, competent, decent person dedicated to public service just won't compute in their brains.

Why did Comey rush to Ashcroft's bedside years ago. Seems like Comey is bucking for the AG job, again...

I've tried calling Ryan and McConnell's office. Ryan's mailbox is full, McConnell no taking calls. What do I do, I did send them a tweet. I am disabled and they are scaring the crap out of me.

WHY are we still being censored on members blogs by TH gatekeepers, what is Thom afraid of ? This locked down on free speech was enacted to basically protect Hillary from right wing trolls, but the election is now over so why are we still being censored.

Who gets to decide what is valid comment?

Many blogs i have posted and thought barely worth of being seen, have to my surprise garnered some of the most active responses and visa versa , posts that i thought were worthy of awards, at least in my head, received no comment at all. So who gets to decide what is relevant, what deserves to be seen, who gets to be the King or Queen of these blogs.

This blog censorship and it is censorship, discourages the very thing Thom daily promotes, that being involvement.

West Michigan Rep Huezinga
Phone Town Hall

Rep Huezinga had a phone town hall I wasn't aware of until they called. I was an early sign-up for his newsletter, perhaps that's why a registered dem was #3 of the 50 they called. I asked about health care. I'm a semi-retired nurse/senior citizen in my 40th year of work. I had been refused insurance/health care for years. I've always found that ironic.

You can find reactions to his response to me on his face book page. I felt he was rude and dismissive. Apparently others did too. He talked over me and refused to listen. The rest of the meeting didn't go that well, regardless of his attempts at control.

He told me I was not barred from health care "THE X-RAYS AND DOCTORS ARE RIGHT THERE". I tried to tell him that they will not take cash for chemo. So it is false to say I could have had it if I had money. He talked over me and on the phone, that cuts me right off. I am not on chemo therapy. But I found his response especially cruel.

He has just sent a second invitation to an in-person townhall in the far reaches of my gerimandered district. (Muskegon is blue, they drew us into this Republican). I note the invitation is for a "listening tour". That will be different! I'm hoping he will listen to TWO facts:
1 West Michigan is huge in medical everything: equipment, care, billing, research, etc, and the ACA was big business for us. And
2. FRUIT "butters our bread"! How does he want it? Picked or rotted in the field? Our rich Michigan history of Hispanic farmers goes back much further than Trump's family in America.

Omitted by all the articles about former Atty General Scott Pruitt is that at no time were charges against the 2007-2014 fraudulent foreclosures, failure to maintain deed chain of custody and forged mortgage documents by the banks ever investigated, filed, or prosecuted. Likewise malfeasance by the insurance industry was glossed over with only the most egregious receiving any attention. Certainly not the predatory nursing-retirement home industry.

Missing in the commentary is all the EPA lawsuits, suits against Colorado and its marijuana legalization, naked support of oil & gas industry, the massive chicken farms, swine and cattle feedlots with the subsequent fecal pollution into the local water supplies and large increases in the State Attorney Generals office salary's, is that all of these actions were done on the Oklahoma taxpayers dime despite the $1.5 billion budget deficit caused by Oklahoma Republican tax cuts.

The commercial media continues to exhibit a vast memory hole; at no time has the effectiveness of the Tax cuts and the promised prosperity been examined. The politicians, appointees, and favored businesses enjoy virtual legislative immunity from any accountability while requiring constant accountability from anyone in poverty requiring assistance.

These actions and planned outcomes are all part and partial to the "Starve the beast" Rand/ Norquest Social Darwinist ideology; originating out of state from ALEC and other billionaire dark money sources.

We are rapidly approaching system where a single party requiring a rigid ideological fidelity has captured all branches of government and even business: just like the old Soviet and Chinese communist countries.

Hey, I've never been here before, but I have a question which I hope someone will answer. Earlier in the week or perhaps last week Thom mentioned a book which traced the breakdown in American civil society to Brown v. Board of Education. I think the word Democracy was in the title. Thanks from Wisconsin's 2CD. John

on Papa on Papa Bush and the Gulf War, he lost the election because after he won the war he refused to take out Saddam Hussein saying it would destabilize the region. So he made a great lie about Saddam Hussein being the new Hitler and then when he refused to remove the new Hitler giving legitimate geopolitical reasons people still wanted to believe the lie and they got mad at him for not following through on the LIE.

Hello Everyone!

New to the chatroom. Hey everyone here I'm sure has heard Thom say treat guns like cars and insure them the same way. When the insurance companies have to start paying claims on these shootings, the guns laws will change faster than the speed of light. I have been asking my local cops about this idea and they think its great and they had never heard the idea before. So, here is an idea. Everyone start a letter and phone campaign to local police departments asking them to put pressure on politicians to get this legislation passed!

Conservatives supposedly hate freeloading. So why are they trying to legalize it?

Conservatives supposedly hate freeloaders.

So why do they support right to work laws - which literally legalize freeloading?

Our nation's nine unelected monarchs on the Supreme Court are poised to deal yet another blow to organized labor.
