I once asked a rabbi, "What really is the meaning of 'Israel'?"

The rabbi asked me, "What do you think it is?"

... to me it seems, Israel must be a way of being - a state of
mindful awareness, a dimension of whole being stemming from the
heart of creation, where everything is sacred - every aspect of the
body of life, and the universe that supports the breath of life itself.

...the rabbi said I was not so far off - by the teachings,
there are a number of dimensions of meaning/manifestation
to Israel (9 or 10?) - all the way from this piece of land
so divine that some are called to shed blood for her sake,
to a quality of whole consciousness, enlightened mind,
free spirit, love and respect for life ... how do I know?!

...the rabbi suggested I do a search on 'Israel' and 'mysticism.'

Of course, the ocean is vast - I cannot begin to count every wave.
I guess every person has to reach deep within to find
what resonates truly and live it to the fullest.
