Thom: In 1970 after being stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, I decided to comply with the Illinois registration law, so I went to the place of registry and asked for a form. The woman informed me that that would be $10 ............Each. I told her that I didn't have any guns. Mind you, $10 in 1970 was about $40 in 2014 money. And who knows, that may have been an annual event. I believe that gun purchases should be regulated, but when STATES fill their coffers with excess charges on lawful citizens, the requirements need to be standardized. Concerning muzzle loaders, when I bought one at Walmart about 10 years ago, there was no registration requirement. Mind you, you can kill someone or thing just as easily with a muzzle loader, but by the time that you reload, you may also be killed. No person will try to commit a crime with a muzzle loader, unless he has a suicide by police wish.

In the 300,000 years since the emergence of modern humans, carbon dioxide levels have never been this high.
