This question was asked by Rep. Garnet Coleman, D-Houston, during the hearing on Thursday opening up further investigation in to Sandra Bland's senseless murder.

A reasonable question. At this time with unreasonable & unbelievable answers.

It is reasonable as well to hold the cultural belief, perhaps common sense too, that we are all always to be on respectful, obedient, behavior whenever we are stopped by a cop. If for nothing else - as has been stated in the assorts blogs on Sandra Bland- the cops have now increased their odds - by their choice making - to lawfully abuse you, or to murder you. In this way then speaking authentically to an officer could get one murdered and I do keep this in mind - more so these days than ever before.

When I was younger I was respectful to the cops - as I was raised to do. As a white girl, I was fortunate, I did not experience any abuse from them as I was a well behaved citizen and I have remained so.

Now I know operating from my own direct experience - even when I am respectful - the cop is a jerk no matter what. We have become more militarized in our communities, where hapless citizens are targets - as a criminal in order to generate revenue for our military industrial complex, & prison industrial complex.

Even if I make the choice to be respectful to the officer - who is not being respectful to me - even within that reason - then one would also be able to appropriately & reasonably be peeved when stopped by a cop for his megalomaniacal ego fix.

I no longer have this knee jerk response to to be pleasantly obedient when some officer on Road Roids decides I need a lesson about traffic laws - as it always turns out - a lesson without merit. It is remarkable as well, that the cops who pull us hapless citizens over - at times themselves creating a dangerous situation due to their explosive chase. Situations happening more & more frequently due to the crumbling infrastructure of our economic system giving us copious over indulgent police to gather revenue for the hungry county budgets.

But in the doing so the alleged civil society is relying on traffic violations to shore up the paychecks for the county administrators & their elite retirement accounts. In the doing so targeting the poorest people giving double jeopardy to the economics of oppression. So it falls on those at the lowest of the hierarchy to continue to gather the fiscal funds for the operating budgets. The lowest & the least able to keep their emotions under control as we see constantly

Trooper in Sandra Bland arrest once warned for conductChron.com‎ - 14 hours ago

Brian Encinia, 30, who has been with DPS a little more than a year, was warned about his conduct in November 2014 for an incident that had occurred sometime in the previous two months.

"Trooper Encinia was given a written counseling for unprofessional conduct ... for an incident that occurred at a school in Austin," DPS officials wrote in a performance evaluation of the then-probationary officer. "In the future, Trooper Encinia should conduct himself at all times in a manner that will reflect well on himself, the Department, and the state of Texas."

Waller County officials on Tuesday released the full video of Sandra Bland's three days in jail before she was found hanging in her cell, and also confirmed that the 28-year-old was not receiving medication to treat her epilepsy despite mentioning the condition on an intake form.

How can someone go swimming and then drown because they don't know how to swim?
Being pulled over for an illegal lane change (ie: not signaling) has nothing to do with Sandra Bland committing suicide. Sandra Bland had tried to commit suicide before as forensics could clearly see when they found 25-30 parallel healing cuts on her left arm. And she even admitted to trying to commit suicide before, I believe. They made a mistake by not putting her on a suicide watch. And that wasn't Officer Encinia's fault. He had nothing to do with anything that happened to Sandra Bland after her arrested her and turned her over to the jail facilities. You all act like he murdered her and that is totally bogus and dishonest. Since they were "healing" cuts...they evidently had recently been made.

The police are not mind readers nor psychiatrists and they have one basic mission or duty (to protect and to serve. Ok, so that's two basic missions or duties. Their mission is to protect the general public against those who would harm anyone in the general population and to protect themselves. They have to be on the lookout for anyone who might be doing something dangerous and/or illegal. They look for certain, well known, signs that someone is either guilty of something or not mentally capable of safely operating a vehicle. They have a duty to remove these people from their cars in order to further assess the stability of the drivers so that the drivers don't injure or kill anyone, including themselves, with that vehicle. Since Sandra Bland was obviously suicidal and had a bad attitude of imagined victimization by LE, it was a good thing Officer Encinia caught her when he did. And since Sandra Bland had a very high level of TCH in her body at the autopsy it is apparent that she swallowed her stash just before being arrested. She may have even been smoking MJ sometime before Officer Encinia pulled her over...earlier enough that the odor of MJ would not have been apparent when he stopped her. She would have been high after smoking MJ and then when he pulled her over and went back to his vehicle to run a check on her, she ate her stash. Officer Encinia probably saved innocent people from being injured or killed by getting her off the road.

By the way, if no one here is familiar with Rep. Garnett Coleman here he is:

Two points: Go online and search for legal advice on what to do in the case of inappropriate behavior by the police during a traffic stop. Show me one - just one - that doesn't warn you to be polite, respond appropriately, and follow instructions from the officer. If you have a problem, take it up in court where you can have your say. Not one will tell you: Go ahead, mouth off and "stick it to the man." The reason for this advice is obvious: Don't aggravate the situation because (a) you won't win (b) you will make the situation worse and (c) you will just give the cop more ammunition when you show up in court. So if you really want to shoot yourself in the foot, follow liloby's sage advice!

Second point: Liloby has posted her biased and out-of-context criticism of Encinia's unspecified error while he was at training school elsewhere. News flash: That is what school is for. And contrary to what all the cop bashers are trying to imply, it was so minor that he received the mildest correction imaginable, namely:

"The evaluation goes on to say, 'In the future, Trooper Encinia should conduct himself at all times in a manner that will reflect well upon himself, the Department, and the State of Texas.'

But it gets much worse and here is what liloby has selectively and intentionally left out, because it reveals Encinia to be an exemplary officer and previously to that, an exemplary fire chief.

"Under the category of 'Stress Tolerance' in the same evaluation, his supervisor remarked that Encinia 'performed effectively and rationally while involved in a pursuit resulting in a firearms discharge during the reporting period.'

"Encinia's most recent performance evaluation was for November and December 2014. Among the remarks were that Encinia 'appears to operate effectively under stress, continues to use good problem solving skills and judgment while working patrol and appears to treat others in a respectful manner.'

"Before applying for trooper training, Encinia was a volunteer firefighter in Brenham, where he was a supervisor at Blue Bell Creameries. Brenham Fire Chief Ricky Boeker remembered Encinia as a 'stand-up kind of guy' popular with the people he worked with.

"Encinia, a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University, was elected as a district chief, Boeker said.

" 'He was a smart individual, very detail-oriented and he was just well liked by all of our members,' he said."

That tells a very different story than liloby's selective hatchet job would indicate. This begs the question: Is Brian Encinia another excellent cop unfairly thrown under the bus to appease a certain constituency? - just like Darren Wilson was in Ferguson.

A thought liloby. Why don't you and a half dozen other cop haters here on this forum, get together in a van and break traffic laws until you are pulled over

Run your mouth, refuse to obey his/her requests, tell him/her what you think of laws, tell him/her about "white privilege", spit, rant, rave, and even tell him/her that Thom Hartmann said it was all OK.

Post the results of your great adventure on one of the leftie websites as it is going down.

Remember to post here so I can start a "go fund a dipshit" so you all get bail money.

I will be sure to rush it over and spring you pinheads.

BTW, you can cheer up. A "white" cop was killed in Memphis last night during a routine traffic stop. That should make your day.

liloby: You have given some clues:
"In 2012 to 2013 I have experienced rampant & blatant false testimony by a local white sheriff officer & "our" white Barbie doll ADA was gleeful in her efforts to support him. The attitude of "our" DAO is that they don't go after white male batterers "becasue they have too much money & will hire an agressive attorney and so the DAO won't be able to get a conviction". This is the land of the free and home of the caged.

After a year of pre-trial hearing because I would not plead, the case - which was based on a video - was dismissed in the interest of justice - all four counts were fabricated & falsified. My criminal defense attorney said it was "the most difficult case he ever had and the only ever dismissed". I was angry the video that the dimwit ADA said proved my guilt actually was the intrument which proved my innocence. . . as I learned my local law eforcement doesn't give a damn about truth or justice.

This was my second unfortunate run with the law and both times I learned that if a woman is articulate then the courts /law enforcement don't think she is in need of the courts protection..... . .this pertains to an alleged white segregated progressive town on the coast of the California Monterey Bay."

emphasis mine

http://www.thomhartmann.com/users/liloby/blog/2015/07/profiting-and-prof... #32

"white Barbie doll ADA": is that a referrence to Alison Sanders, the ADA?

"they don't go after white male batterers": was she battered by a white male?

"This was my second unfortunate run with the law": interesting?

"both times I learned that if a woman is articulate then the courts /law enforcement don't think she is in need of the courts protection": a woman who may be an attorney would be very articulate, one would think?

"this pertains to an alleged white segregated progressive town on the coast of the California Monterey Bay": well there aren't that many towns on the coast of the California Monterey Bay. Moneterey and Santa Cruz.

And several sources, including the Santa Cruz Sentinal, has given some interesting information about it. I may be way off track but there are some striking similarities. Both attorneys are white but then so is Aliceinwonderland. And look at her attitude! ;-} So, for all I know, liloby is black and is not either one of these women and that, perhaps, she is referring to some other case that I haven't found yet.

It is interesting, though, that neither of these attorneys are currently with Santa Cruz justice department. One lives in Santa Cruz and the other lives in Los Gatos. But, I don't think either one is currently practicing law. You have to keep your license current for that... I believe. For what Santa Cruz County District Attorney Office (DAO) paid them, I don't think it was much of an incentive to stay anyway.

This was happening in 2013:

Quote nydailynews:California co-ed asked for abuse in exchange for sex, then allegedly told cops she had been raped
Morgan Triplett, a student at University of California-Santa Barbara, claimed she was sexually assaulted in broad daylight during a visit to the UC-Santa Cruz campus. She later admitted it was all a hoax, cops say.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/california-co-ed-false-rape-claims...

video here:

http://www.ksbw.com/news/central-california/santa-cruz/Triplett-pleads-n...
----------

Quote ksbw:Morgan Triplett, 20, appeared in court for a hearing Friday and pleaded not guilty to one misdemeanor count of filing a false police report.
emphasis mine

There is also an Assistant District Attorney (that could be accused of being "barbie doll") who said about the Fake Rape case, that:

Quote ksbw:As far as a motive for carrying out the hoax, Assistant District Attorney Joanna Schonfield said Triplett was suicidal.

"Part of the prompting for posting these ads was thoughts of suicide, depression, and wanting somebody to hurt her to almost bring her back to life," Schoenfield said.

http://www.ksbw.com/news/central-california/santa-cruz/Prosecutor-Woman-...
------------------
Schoenfield, also an Assistant District Attorney in Santa Cruz could be described by some people, I suppose, as kind of "Barbie Dollish". Is Schoenfield the ADA you've referred to? I would imagine that someone like Morgan Triplett, having been "suicidal", would have a lot in common with Sandra Bland, being that she was suicidal as well.

In reality, his points are very well taken concerning those dumb enough to act like a fool when pulled over. There are many things we all do in our daily lives that require us to be very careful.

Respect for the law and courteously responding to a police officer that has stopped us for ANY reason is one of them.

How do you know he is not a white guy?

Quote hollygolightly:

How do you know Dexterous is a white guy?

The points dexterous repetitively makes are consistent of white guys who can't quite understand what it means to be 'not' white. I suppose one could make the point that any male of any color would behave the same way - with comments based on beliefs/emotions without any facts or factoids to back up the opinions. But my experience has shown it is mostly white men that take their privilege to behave this way.

Maybe you want to do some blogging about reminding people of their manners - theres a fertile pit for you to work from. I am in agreement with those that have observed manners seem to be lost in this year 2015. I don't see this issue with Sandra Bland as about manners. After all she is dead - for a bogus reason. And we've seen many videos of now of dead Black people who never got the chance to show off their manners before the cops killed them.

Why not start with the cops manners?

Why don't they be the peace they want us to be?

I would be willing to bet that if the cops regained control of their emotions, to use their emotional intelligence for manners then you & I would not be engaged here in dialog about their egregious abuse of their public servant position.

I guess you haven't read the issues here. "How could someone get pulled over for not signaling and end up dead" It just doesn't compute". . . Your comment gives me the impression you are a white gal who also doesn't know -or care - what it means to be female and 'not' white. Also with a strong & blind adherence to 'obedience'.

BTW, my White mother told me two wrongs don't make a right - did your mama ever say that to you? What you are saying here is - that two wrongs make one of the wrongs right - if the wrong is committed by a cop - alleged in the line of duty.

This is wrong and goes against the spirit of the law and why the texas troopers stressed this to their officer. Thus, you are promoting that the cop person can wrongly go out of control - the cop who in reality has the inherent responsibility to keep their wits about them. This is inconsistent and a contradiction. . . and dangerous too as we continually learn.

Therein lies the big difference the two of us. I don't judge people by their sex, skin color, or sexual preference. I try to judge them by their interaction with me and those I observe them with. I don't listen to the "white privilege" or "poor me" I am some other color than white excuses. You apparently carry around a "white guilt" complex and I am not here to correct you for your beliefs. I don't subscribe to it, or endorse it. I have seen too many people of all colors, gender, and sexual preference, succeed.

Sectioning the population into groups that can be exploited for their own benefit seems to be a favorite tactic of those the left. The Thom Hartmann show devotes three hours a day to that purpose. It benefits him because controversy keeps him on the air, it does nothing to repair the damage caused by this type of behavior.

You want a better world? Drop your pre-conditioned attitude and stop lumping those that may disagree with you into one category. Life is full of variables, most people learn to adapt. Those who do not, just keep playing the same tired tune over and over.

"You might be a racist if you say the officer who arrested Sandra Bland did nothing wrong

After the dashcam footage of the arrest of Sandra Bland was released Tuesday evening, social media was set ablaze by people who were either incensed at what they believed to be excessive force and an illegal arrest, or others who felt strongly that what Officer Brian Encinia did was perfectly fine and well within the law.

I know in America we like to see two sides of every situation, but sometimes, in the world of right and wrong, ethical and corrupt, everybody can't be right. This is one of those situations.

Before one single member of the general public viewed the dashcam footage of Bland's arrest, the Texas Department of Public Safety viewed it and issued the following statement:

"[The department] identified violations of the department's procedures regarding traffic stops and the department's courtesy policy."

Because of this determination, Officer Encinia removed from active duty policing and was placed on desk duty. Again, mind you, his supervisors made this determination, but refused to state which specific actions the officer made that violated statewide policies.

Could it have been the 14 times he refused to tell Sandra Bland why she was being arrested?

Could it have been when he pointed a Taser at her and told her "I'll light you up" when she was afraid to get out of the car?

Could it have been when she told him she had epilepsy and he said "good" back to her as she explained how her head hurt from being slammed to the ground?

For anyone of good conscience to see the arrest video of Sandra Bland, who was only confronted in the first place when she failed to use her turn signal to get out of the officer's way, and determine that everything was fine, appropriate, and well within policy completely defies ethical reasoning.

Only racism, or perhaps the worship of police, could make sense of such a determination."

Why was it that Sandra Bland couldn't even get someone to put up bail for her...even her "friend" in the same town? Would you have put up bail for Sandra Bland before her suicide was made to be a cause celebre? Why is it that lots people are now, after Sandra Bland committed suicide in jail (probably because no one would bail her out), acting like they are so in love with Sandra Bland...tweeting and blogging things that are totally unrealistic in support of Sandra Bland...yet would anyone of them have posted the $5000 (10%=$500) bail to get her out? Would you have? What about if you hadn't known that she was going to kill herself? I'd bet that probably 99.999% of those who are now supporting the dead Sandra Bland wouldn't put up $50 bail to get her out. You people are all hypocrites, aren't you? How many blacks have you all posted bail for that are still in jail for things you don't believe warrants their incarceration? Come on, admitt it! You don't have any interest in putting up your money to bail out someone in jail who may very well skip out and it would cost you the total bail amount(eg: not just $500 but the full $5000). You really don't trust them anymore than Sandra's "friend" trusted her...perhaps. You won't even think about putting up your own money to bail someone out of jail until after they die in jail. Then, you're all hypocritically, symbolically, throwing your arms around them as if they were your own flesh and blood or Jesus Crist.

As this one black cool dude, TJ Sotomayor, says: "If you love Sandra Bland so much, go now to your local jail and bail some black out." Put your money where your mouth is!

It's funny that people that call whites racist for speaking out against only those blacks who are either criminals or very disrespectful of the law and don't act civil when accosted by the police, are probably racists themselves. Whites can be racist if they are condemning other whites for being critical of the above mentioned troublemakers. If they consistently take the side of blacks, no matter how criminal or violent they have been, then maybe they can be considered racists against their own white race. So, if you think that is incorrect then why would you call someone like TJ Sotomayor a racist for speaking out against certain black criminals and troublemakers? I think a lot of you people who are throwing around the "racist" label (IMHO) are the real racists. You are also suckers that support criminal activity and people behaving badly.

Although, over the last few years I have actually met a few people that are really feel guilty because they are "white" ( if we have to drag ourselves down to coloring humans so we can divide them into segments for political gain). I suggest they all should walk through the streets of Baltimore where the cops have rightly taken the position, "let the idiots shoot each other" while we sit in our car and watch. Much less paperwork, and it gives the worthless mayor what she wants, no cops arresting thugs period.

Tommy J. Sotomayor said, in one of his YouTube videos, that 40 people were killed in one month in Balitmore... and not by the police... by thugs stealing and robbing their fellow citizens. I'm sure glad I don't live in Baltimore! Maybe the new Chief of Police can make a difference but I doubt it if his hands are tied by the ineffective mayor who ordered the previous Chief of police to pretty much stand down during the riots. But, I think the police, and maybe even the National Guard, will be ready for the next outbreak.

White Supremacy Killed Cecil the Lion | Rob Richards

https://writerobwrite.wordpress.com

July 30, 2015 · by

"Cecil the lion was a beautiful creature. He didn’t deserve the suffering he endured over his last couple of days. You could call Walter Palmer a lot of things. He’s an asshole for sure – and his apologies have a ring of “I’m sorry I got caught” to them that I just can’t ignore. He hasn’t said a thing about the practice of sport hunting and how he’s learned a lesson here about how depraved the practice is. He’s been doing this for years, Cecil isn’t even the first lion he’s killed, he’s also killed a rhinoceros, jaguars, bears. The man gets off on killing things that can’t defend themselves and he has the resources to support this habit without taking it out on people. He’s the Dexter of the wild kingdom.

As the story developed and white America took it up as their cause du jour, many folks who are involved in Black Lives Matter or other anti-racist work, started asking the obvious question: “One lion dies and you freak out, how about ALL THE BLACK FOLKS getting killed ALL THE TIME?” It’s a valid question and one that I hope people think about long and hard.

What I see at play here is a privileged white doctor who feels entitled to the very life of another being. Palmer isn’t extraordinary and his actions aren’t even shocking to me. Rich white guy kills a bunch of exotic animals – in Africa? We’re supposed to be shocked?

I think the killing of Cecil and the killing of Sandra Bland, Sam DuBose, et al, share the same root cause, and will have the same result. The dominant white culture in America feels entitled to control whatever they want to control, to the point of taking lives. White people don’t even take the time to analyze what’s going on in these incidents. One key indication for me is the near silence I’m hearing around the killing of Sam DuBose. Why are white people so quiet about it? Maybe it’s because there is footage, and the footage reinforces the fact that police operate under inherent bias and are predisposed to deadly force even though the situation was no where close to warranting it. The footage debunked the officer’s statement, which his fellow officer corroborated. They both lied to cover up Sam Dubose’s murder. It’s all right there on Youtube. If they act outraged for Sam, then they might have to talk about the causes, and they might have to take a look at themselves. And at the end of the day, that’s just not worth it to them if they can just continue on the present course with no consequences or repercussions.

Ultimately though, whites in America won’t do jack squat about it. Cecil will be the last lion killed by an asshole just like Sam DuBose will be the last black person killed by a police officer. We have short attention spans and a real problem with looking inward and addressing our fears. I wish I knew how, as a white person, to break through and get my fellow whites to at least acknowledge their privilege and power and maybe even talk about it, talk about how that power manifests itself in our society in every nook and cranny. How each of us, every day, perpetuate it a hundred times over in a myriad of ways. It’d be a hell of a good start."

The lunacy just continues. Yep, the reprehensible guy who killed Cecil was white so - altogether now - it was an act of white supremacy.

Just one question: The guys who actually lured Cecil out of the game sanctuary, so that the white guy could shoot him, were black, so... Let's wait for the tortured logic to follow.

"Black Lies Matter"...right?

Quote Karl Leon Lennon:The guys who actually lured Cecil out of the game sanctuary, so that the white guy could shoot him, were black, so... Let's wait for the tortured logic to follow.

And who was it that got 30 years, and the others got only 10, of the 6 cops that were arrested for killing Freddie Gray? Why it was the black van driver who made a couple of non-official stops and drove wrecklessly so as to bang Freddie around. Freddie actually had an impression in his flesh of a bolt that stuck out of the inside of the van when Freddie bashed against it. And he was the one that they are blaming for compounding Freddie's injuries to the extent that he died. He might have survived had the driver not driven recklessly and delayed in getting Freddie to the hospital.

But, no one wants to think about that, do they. They try to blame it all on racist white cops, when it was a black cop that did much of the damage to Freddie.
"Black Lies Matter"?

John Gray in his article from 2004 or earlier, "A Day in the Life of Joe Republican", explains eloquently the attitude of conservatives towards protecting the people from the greed of big corporations.
