I just finished watching NBC's Meet the Press where Bernie Sanders was finally allowed to speak. But also allowed was "Mr. Nobody" Rick Santorum, and I could not help but notice how deliberately he misrepresented Barbara Jordan's position on closing the flood gates to immigration. The implication being, of course, that democrats pick and choose what they want to represent to the American people when it suits THEM.

What a disgusting show of disrespect to the American people, and especially to Barbara Jordan. Barbara Jordan sat in the House of Representatives from 1972 to 1979, having been the first Black female democrat to have been elected from the south, the once democratic state of Texas. Anyone who was born while she was in the House or thereafter, AND WHO FAILS TO BRUSH UP ON HISTORY, would be totally unaware that during those years our corporations were still on American soil. We had strong labor unions that opposed (as did their members) having a booming influx of foreign workers coming to our country to undercut union workers' wages and put countless American workers out of work. That's exactly what was happening at that time. I know, because I was there.

How Rick Sanitorium can compare that time with what we are trying hard to live through now is no way comparable. Ms. Jordan was a progressive before the word was even used as it is now. She was there and indeed, was very instrumental in bringing down then-President Richard Nixon when he was caught in too many lies about the Watergate breakin of the Democratic Headquarters. That was the very last time I can recall any person in such a high position actually punished for his wrong-doing.

Thereafter, once impeachment proceedings were underway and Nixon resigned leaving office to Gerald Ford (Nixon's Vice President), Gerald Ford started a "tradition" that is carried on to this date. Once Ford pardoned Nixon so that he could not be prosecuted, we now find ourselves in a glut of unscruplious politicians and CEO's who, no matter how evil the deed, continue to be allowed to keep-on-keeping-on feeling safe and secure that they will receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

For Rick Santorum to use Barbara Jordan's name from the '70s to show a form of wavering by the Democratic party on its position of immigration is just further evidence of how deep the GOP will go to try to make dirt of a party that has now, and always will have, as their mandate, what is best for the American workers and what is best for the American people entirely.

All I can say to my much younger compatriots is that when you hear people such as Rick Santorum mention a name you have never heard of, please Google it or research it to the fullest. Rick Santorum is not fit to even mention the name of the likes of a Barbara Jordan.

Aw, c'mon guys, he is just nuts. Big time. When his wife had an abortion they brought the fetal corpse home for the kids to play with. OK, maybe not "just nuts"; this guy belongs in the weird wing of the boobie hatch.

GM Shows Why We Need Medicare for All

Thom plus logo General Motors just pulled healthcare for 50,000 workers. There are some Democratic candidates suggesting that people love their health insurance companies, but this calculated move by a giant corporation that you and I helped bail out proves that employer sponsored healthcare is just another tool to control workers.
