The biggest underreported story of the year (deliberately, I believe) was the huge amounts of dark money in the 2014 election. For example the oil and gas industry spent $721 million on campaigns. How much did other 1% individuals and huge corporations spend to tell a story that the Obama administration was floundering? How did that compare to labor unions' donations? We saw the first election totally bought by the right wing, through the graces of 5 members of the Supreme Court. And these interests have so much money they're now reaching into state legislatures and local school boards.
