Love is Progressive Part 24: The Revolution Will Be Twittered

A revolution is coming, whether we know it or not.

Those who won't want it, won't see it coming,

Nor will those who are politically unaware;

Even many revolutionaries won't see it coming.

Bur once it starts, there will be no stopping it.

.................................................................................

It all starts so innocuously,

With a computer.

Who would have thought it?

The people of the internet bringing humanity a populist revolution.

......................................................................................................................

The people of the internet:

They may be broke, but they have a computer.

They may be oppressed, but they each have a computer.

Perhaps they are lonely, and find solace and companionship on the internet.

Perhaps they are jobless, and they make the internet their job.'

Perhaps they feel unloved, and find affection on social networking sites.

They may feel stressed, but they find lots of stressed company online.

Armed with a computer and a cell phone, they possess the tools of a new revolution.

...............................................................................................................................

The news travels faster than lightning on the internet,

And it can't be stopped.

From laptop to laptop, phone to phone,

The revolution will be twittered

And messaged

In homes and malls and public squares and buildings --

News worth getting out of their seats for.

...................................................................................................

The new people's revolution will be strategized online

And revolutionaries recruited

And there is nothing "they" can do about it,

Which is another reason they so desperately want to abolish net neutrality

And find ways to shut down the internet --

But that would only inflame the passions of revolution more

As "they" know.

............................................................................................................................

The people's revolution:

The Freedom

The Democracy

That has been stolen from the people

Will be found again.

..............................................................................................................

Cooperation instead of competition

Love instead of greed

Environment instead of profits

Natural instead of artificial

Real people instead of walking zombies

Construction instead of destruction

Progress instead of stagnation

Life insead of death.

..................................................................................................................

The new paradigm is coming to a computer near you

Or a cell phone

And that will make revolutionaries of us all.

And the great and wonderful irony of this all,

Is how sitting at one's computer

Inspires the grandest of actions.

When the power goes off, and the lights go out, so will your computer. The revolution will be finding something to eat, or potable water to drink. The revolution will be finding a flashlight in the dark that has batteries that still works. The revolution will be keeping the wolves (SWAT teams) away from your door.

They will "control the horizontal, they will control the vertical" they will control the Internet, just as they control everything else. They will control your lives, just as they are controlling the minds of the majority who spend endless hours on blogs like this typing their revolutionary time away in the hopes that someone else will start the revolution without them.

If you think technology alone will save you, you are delusional! We will sink into chaos and anarchy as systems collapse. Governments will become even more dictatorial, and people will be under even more oppression when the lights go out. Technology is all manmade, and we will regress back into the primitive state of the jungle. The savage beast that beats in the heart of man will come out and we will become like our ancestors, fighting each other over hunting grounds.

Your picture is way too optimistic, and must take into consideration that blood will be shed in ANY true revolution. They tell you that this is a technological revolution, that the internet and computers has changed the way we think, act, and unite. This is all true, but will only last as long as the Internet is free, and the power grid stays energized.

How many know how to plant and harvest their own crops? How many know how to hunt for food and water? How many have the will power to physically defend their space? Because, this is what it will come down to as climate change increases, food and water supplies decrease, and people start clawing each other over a morsel of horsemeat.

I had the same Bravo comment elsewhere, Alice. Thank you.

Thank you too thevoice.

I have noticed that the ladyfolk really seem to get this post. Sometimes, we need a bit of inspiration. Optimism when it has a chance to turn possibility into reality, is a good thing.

I am the last person to think that technology will solve our problems. I didn't say that, either, in this post, Roland. A new mentality is needed to solve our problems. If the power goes off, that would thwart the use of computers, obviously, but I don't believe the power will ever go off. For one, it's too important, even to corporate interests, and for another, well, people are figuring out ways to generate their own power.

People will also figure out ways to grow their own food and take care of their own needs if necessary, through cooperation.

I have tried to be as optimistic as possible, and prior to the Neo-Con takeover I was for the most part. However, Oil will run out sooner or later, and when it does, I doubt anyone will have anything in place to take up the slack.

One of the reasons that so many people have been supported (even though the distribution of wealth seems concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere, resulting in starvation and famine elsewhere) is due to food transportation, and artificial fertilizer, all are products of Oil. It's not a question of IF, but of WHEN.

As more and more poor people of color migrate from the arid climates of the Southern Hemisphere, to the industrialized nations of the North, there will be a right wing backlash as can be seen in some of the Scandinavian countries. France has an increase in Moroccans, Germany has an increase in Turks and Italians, and poor Muslims of their former colonies are seeking a better way of life.

What helps support all of this is the produce shipped in during Northern winter months from the Southern hemisphere from places like Chile. Climate change may disrupt the food supply, as more of the industrialized nations squander money and resources on their military.

A change in "attitude" might help some to cope with the impending disaster that will take place, but I doubt that (or prayer) will save us. In the end, be prepared for a large reduction in the Earth's human population, as centralized governments (like the New World Order) consolidate power in order to ensure they are the ones in control, no matter how much chaos and conflict they create.

Going on the Internet all day will take your mind off of your problems if you are homeless, or barely hanging on financially, but it will not solve the underlying problems of a corrupt and flawed system.

So yes, I would like to be more optimistic however since 2000, it has been difficult for me not be cynical about the path those in power are taking us.

I saw this a few days ago. "Business as usual" has continued for the most part since these projections were made in 1970. However, it cannot continue much longer.

I am talking about the end of business as usual in this post. Yes, death rates have already pretty much bottomed out, and are likely to increase before long. Climate change will increasingly wreak havoc on the planet, fossil fuels will continue to deplete, and nations will continue to create massive military waste and destruction, while the elite will try to figure out how to position themselves to their advantage.

However, people are resourceful, and with increasing tools and knowledge, there is a great opportunity for creatively reshaping society. I am not suggesting people don't get out of their seats; in fact, I mentioned people getting up and doing activist stuff in the post. However, people will be able to organize and share ideas in ways that were not possible before. There are solutions to our problems without letting society collapse. There are technological alternatives to fossil fuels, and there are certainly alternatives to war and famine. Yes, there are likely to be catastrophes and problems on a massive scale for humanity to deal with in the coming decades, but this will encourage people to recognize these and implement solutions to the problems which have been building up for so long.

I agree. My goal is NOT to scare people into inaction, but ACTION! Yes, I painted a bleak picture, but there is always hope, as long as we act, rather than stay stagnant and do nothing.

It's interesting that "we are at our best, when things are at their worst" (to paraphrase a line from the movie "Starman.")

A revolution of consciousness is possible if it occurs in large enough numbers to effect positive change. It will require those on the "Right" to come out of their box or bubble, and think in more holistic terms, just as those on the "Left" must stop thinking in terms of "Us VS Them" as well.

Unfortunately, there are still many ideas that warp our perception of reality, and make logical decision making a problem. One of these is Religion. The other is the Media. Too often those in the Christian Right think in religious terms, when in fact religion is a man made creation. Then there are those who think of themselves as free thinkers, all the while going to movies and watching TV as their minds are subtly programmed into being obedient mass consumers.

Yes, religion, media and often politics are usually not predicated enough, if at all, on what is logical or scientific. These are used by manipulative people to create a socially constructed reality which is all too warped.

People may also be looking too much for or to be a hero. If the change we need is attained, it will be attained when a critical percentage of the population is ready for change. Individuals may play a role, but numbers of like-minded people are crucial.
